Any way they can take Iovine and Cue off Apple Music's hands also?

I waited and waited for some kind of announcement of a positive change for Apple Music at the keynote, and nothing.

She's getting more money. It's okay if you'd stick to a low paying job and pass up more money, but most people want to take on challenges and move up the chain. Apple is notorious for not giving much wiggle room in higher level positions.
Well, if the only position you can move up to is Craig Federighi's position for example, obviously you are going to hit a ceiling until he leaves. She's already a high level exec, so little wiggle room is not shocking.

Either way, If I'm already making a f---ton of money at one of the biggest and stable corporations at world, there's no way I'd moving to a sh--show like Uber even if they paid me twice as much.

If she wants to take on the challenge of turning Uber around, I think thats a good move. Other than that, there's much else.

She may be bored... Not everyone values job stability above other aspects - especially high achievers as they tend to be risk takers.

Uber?

Gross.
Simple and to the point. That was my reaction when I read the article.

Who will sing for us in keynotes now? :(

I believe Uber has a great future in front of it despite recent PR issues. They need to get to autonomous fleet quickly and hit a critical mass that kills all of the (in my opinion often politically motivated) opposition at local levels. If I were in her shoes and the offer was right I'd take the challenge.

For... UBER?!

That must have been a big honkin' truck full of money they backed up in her driveway.

As much as I hate Uber, Saint John brings diversity in to the mix, which could be a huge win for the company provided she gets a major promotion in title.
Lol. Then lol some more.

"Brings diversity to the mix". You know who needs diversity? Didi. I bet 95% of their employees are Chinese. I wonder how that company makes a dime. They need some diversity in the mix.

Clearly she realized Apple was just using her as a tool to show how "diverse" they are. She probably wants a little....I don't know.....respect for her skills and not what she represents. Hopefully she does well there.

Considering she only raised $2500 for a charity lunch with her, I don't think many people think much of her skill or experience in the music streaming business. People forget Apple inherited her from a second tier streaming service that would have gone out of business if Apple wouldn't have bought it. Now let's hope Iovine is the next to go.

Since when is "diversity" a job? I'm all for removing imposed/perceived limits on opportunity based on gender and/or race, but meritocracy should still be paramount.

Based on her WWDC16 appearance, you've nailed it.

Good riddance. An absolute ****ing narcissist Apple doesn't need. And before the millennial faux outrage, my sentiment is because of her self-appointed "diva" title and nothing to do with her race. Her last keynote appearance seemed forced too.

We really don't know what the situation was like behind the scenes. Perhaps she didn't have a future at Apple beyond her current position. Perhaps she grew bored and wanted a challenge. Maybe Uber offered her a metric ton of cash. Who knows...

But, assuming no conflicts or drama, I'd much rather clock in at Apple.

No fan of Uber, but as long as I don’t have to watch her dance around and make embarrassingly bad jokes at keynotes, it’s a win for me

only $$$$$$$$$$$ to make you leave Apple and go to Uber....eww. Also she must be getting a more important position there.

People here that think Uber contracted her just because she is black: if she was white, would you say that? thats really racist. You are judging her success by the color of her skin. ew.

I sense there are a whole bunch of males in this thread just from the quasi racist and mysoginist tones.

I sense you're broadly ascribing misogyny and racism to men. Women can categorically dislike women and be just as racist. After all, equality teaches us women can do anything men can do. You wouldn't want to accidentally appear sexist.

she’s getting more money than any of us are and your judgement means nothing. When you can cash checks like she can then maybe it will.

Are you suggesting the opinions of people making less money than others are meaningless? Sure sounds like it. You wouldn't want to accidentally appear elitist.

Uber began as something really classy. Now it's literally a yellow cab service with different levels of cars. The UberX is got to be the scariest of the bunch in terms of safety here in Los Angeles. You really don't realize how BAD people are at driving until you're stuck inside a Prius with one of these turds and you get t-boned in an intersection because they didn't look both ways before crossing a major street. Yeah, they have PR issues because of the guy stealing technology - but damn, they lost a lot of class over the years that is definitely MORE THAN PERCEPTION. I hope that when this company trades drivers for a fleet of super high tech cars that everything returns to normal. Don't know how they'll clean the puke out of the backseat when there's no driver to monitor puke-status.
I am still very satisfied with Uber's service here in Singapore. Drivers are younger and more polite. Way better than what I have experienced from taxi drivers.
