Like pretty much everything Apple Music/TV under the Harry Crane-channeling Eddy Cue, yet another ill-fated desperate attempt to be relevant and down with the kidz

This is pure CRIN-GE.

Guess it doesn't really matter where his money comes from after all! Apple or Saudi Arabia...all the same to him!

All that stuff is connected to Hip-Hop Radio culture. It's no different than any rock station's drops and station identifiers. He started off as a radio DJ and that's why he does that stuff. He is an extremely influential producer as well and really has helped dictate the sound of "urban" music for the better part of two decades. Those drops are more than just his signature but set his music up as sounding like its part of his radio broadcasts. Him being part of something like this is just bringing his career back full circle, programming a fluid radio broadcast.

I can appreciate that this genre is not everyone's cup of tea — art is art and sometimes it just doesn't connect with everyone the same way — but for those of us who like it, this is great news.

I get that but it doesn't make him talented.
He actually released a song that is note for note the same as an Outkast song (Ms. Jackson). I think I could have a hit with that.

Well they’re getting a DJ. Everyone has been complaining Apple needed some kind of help with their playlists so there’s their solution for that, at least. I would have preferred David Guetta, but my musical tastes are probably a bit too middle aged mom, to say the least.

For those of you who enjoy this type of music, great. But I hope Apple does the same with people who specialize in other genres too in order to keep the platform more even. And when it comes to the digital radio stations why not put other music under other stations. They could auto play when they don’t have a show, but Beats 1 to me isn’t worth tuning in to see if I might like it.

I gave it the good college try, but each time I go in there I am only more disappointed than the last.

An “Artist In Residence” with no discernible talent or ability?

Now that’s Apple innovation!

That huge fanbase of 13 year-olds with no income is going to pay off, without a doubt.
