"Add to end of queue" isn't that much less awkward. (I don't know what Sonos calls it, assuming it has that feature.)

Problem is, 'add to up next' doesn't actually do that. It does three different things depending how you last added some tracks. It either adds the track after the current track and before all the queued tracks or adds it to the end of the queue, or adds it to the end of the last batch of tracks you added but before the tracks you had queued the first time you pressed the button.

Sonos has: Play Next, Add to Queue, Replace Queue. This makes perfect sense.

I really like Spotify. I personally love the dark green and black UI. It's easier on the eyes than bright white. Black UI colors always look great.

Apple Music is great too but Spotify works in so many places and streaming works great and lots of choices. And I'm not missing Taylor Swift, lol.

I signed up for the 3 month trial when Apple Music came out, thinking it might be a good way to discover new music. It was not. The suggestions it offered were definitely different from what is in my iTunes library. So different I was surprised by it, and unfortunately it also proved to be nothing I could listen to.

End result, I cancelled the service.

I actively dislike Apple Music for its extremely poor user interface. Apple apps used to be more simple and faster than 3rd party apps. For instance, Evernote vs. Notes. That's what I liked. However, Apple Music is far worse. The Spotify UI is just better in many ways.

I think it is doubtful that Apple Music will ever top Spotify. It just isn't different enough to warrant people switching to it (that is where the users will come from).
I tried Apple Music because of the trial and stuck with it because of how easy it was to have access to almost every song ever made. I was never one for paying for streaming music before.

Can anyone tell me if it has substantially improved since it launched ?

Haven't tried it since the free trial.

You'll get the same updates as siri and the other apple services since launch. Small improvements every year at the iPhone launch.

yay... :apple:Music (nuts to Apple, i'm using their logo anyway).

Best collection i've ever ripped perfectly :D Thanks a bunch. Here's to another year.

I do like the discovery, so i get something,, they get something in return, sounds fair by me continuing to pay as a subscriber.

Very happy user here. I used to spend hundreds of dollars every year on CDs (classical, rock, alternative). Since streaming doesn't count toward my T-Mobile data plan (including when traveling around Europe), and with almost 100GB of tracks downloaded on my phone, just in case, I like the convenience and it saves me money -- what's not to like? I've also been exploring and experiencing vast amounts of music that I wouldn't normally, otherwise...

I think you're confusing play next with add to up next. I haven't experienced any of the above.

I tried Apple music after being kicked off Rdio (which I loved) but the Apple Music experience was terrible (LOTS of stuttering and skipping) and a clunky as hell UI. Switched to Spotify, and IMO it's better in every way. All that being said if Rdio did come back from the dead, I'd switch back in a heartbeat.

The app is awful, there's no doubt about that. Spotify has made its app worse by trying to simplify it for idiots. I hope that trend begins a reversal in the near future.

Like the service but have no idea how they made the app so terrible. Like what exactly is 'add to up next' supposed to mean? Why not use plain simple English like the Sonos app does?

Seems like pretty simple English to me!
"Add to up next" - Add this song / album to the list of songs to play next!

Perhaps MR should update the story to note that this figure didn't come from Apple and Apple declined to comment on the Financial Times story?

Think about how many people own smartphones and PCs. A tiny portion of those people subscribe to streaming music services. There's plenty of room for growth there.

Well, the offer and service behind Apple Music is quite promising. Nevertheless I'm surprised that Apple hasn't improved the apps for both OS X and iOS even though acknowledging the average user experience. There's more needed than bugfixing here.

They have. Specially the mobile version.

These early numbers from the transition from free 3 months to paid should be taken with a grain of salt. Doubtless a lot of people "accidentally" are now paying for it that didn't intend to.

Regardless, I like my Apple Music quite a bit! And I hope they do grow.

Because Apple doesn't mail you the receipt every month?

Just because they made 10 million users doesn't mean it's any good. That's just the power of default music app, which the first thing any iOS user will see is "Try Apple Music for free".

If Spotify was part of default music app, it would have 100 million users by now.

Weak argument.

Spotify comes pre-installed in many Android phones.

Even worse, there are plans that have Spotify service included, in some countries.

When I used the free trial on an iphone, the user interface was so messy. It was hard to know which button does what. It was hard for me to know how to go to the album of a current song I'm listening to or go back to a playlist. Another thing I didn't like was it asking me multiple times to enter my itunes password.

Agreed. Internet Explorer was the browser in most widespread use at one time for much the same reason that AM is gaining traction maybe?

Apple Music has: Play Next, Add to Up Next. This is simpler and makes more sense to me. I don't even know what "replace queue" means.
