Now through February 27, new and "eligible" subscribers in the U.S. can try out Apple Music for six months for just a single $2.99 payment.

Beyond first-time subscribers, Apple does not explain who is "eligible" for this offer. If you have subscribed to Apple Music in the past, we recommend heading to the offer page on Apple's website to see if you qualify.

Apple says the offer can be redeemed from the Home tab of the Apple Music app, on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac running the latest software.

After the six-month trial, the subscription will automatically renew at Apple Music's standard price of $10.99 per month until cancelled.

This is the "best offer ever" for Apple Music, according to Apple.

Apple Music is the official sponsor of the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, featuring hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar. In the Apple Music app, there is a variety of content related to Lamar's upcoming performance at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

Lamar is also a featured artist in Apple Fitness+ right now, and Apple News has launched a dedicated hub for Super Bowl LIX coverage.

£2.99 for 6 months in the UK.

However, the "Learn More" or "Get Started" links currently don't show the offer (3:19pm UK).

Small print: "Offer for eligible new subscribers redeeming on eligible devices. Other new subscribers receive one month free. Plan automatically renews at £10.99/mo. after offer period until cancelled. Offer not available if you are eligible for a three‑months‑free Apple Music offer. Terms apply. "

Part of my wishes to go back to the days of iTunes and buy an album, or even song, one at a time. Streaming is great, but reality is I probably could easily go back to owning physical copies of music and streaming through free platforms. But now I have the “carrot” of unlimited music for $10/month that I am too weak willed to pass up.

While Apple Music offers a better overall experience when its working right, my constant problems with their Android app coupled with an inability to change my library to another country, triggered me to switch to try, and subsequently stick with, YouTube Premium. I doubt I'll be back given I've become very accustomed to not having ads over at YouTube and the combo is just cheaper vs YouTube Lite (assuming it's even available) plus Apple Music.

At least at this time YouTube comes before music listening.

Nice, but $10.99 afterwards is expensive. I pay half of it for Spotify. May try it though.

Spotify is $11.99/month here (US) for an individual non-student plan.

I've tried Apple Music out several times, and it just doesn't fit me. I always end up going back to Spotify. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I still do buy my own music
Never stopped

Stopping is just setting oneself up to eventually "require" subscriptions forever, just to keep listening

It's a non starter to me, as music is something of lifetime constant importance for me throughout daily life and activities.

I am offered 3 months for free since years now, although I already had some free months when it started. Does this come with every new device?

They also annoy me with Apple Arcade 3 months trial sometimes on top in the Settings of my iPhone and System Settings on Mac.
They even warned it would run out and it is my last chance or something like that maybe half a year ago and that warning disappeared. I think I saw it only one time.

Why not both? I still have my 100GB+ library of ripped music from a lifetime of CD collecting, but exactly because music is so important to me and such a constant part of my day, across all sorts of genres, streaming is magic for discovery and deep-dives. I buy the things that matter most, or as a result of special circumstances (signed CD at a concert merch booth, for example).

I know lots of people who have like 50 albums and that's all they ever want to listen to. And more power to them; I agree, for someone like that, subscription streaming makes little sense. But I have hundreds of artists I follow regularly, covering everything from EDM to jazz to classical to classic rock and everything in between. Subscription access is a godsend.

I'm personally not a fan of Apple Music due to its UI/UX priorities and the constant insertion of its editorial voice, but this is a great deal for someone new to the platform.

Same here. I still buy CDs from artists that I really care and others just download it. Streaming can be great to learn about new artists and music but if I really like it, I much rather buy it and forget about paying ever again.

I do both!

Discovery and casual consumption of new stuff with Pandora & YouTube Music ... while purchasing music I love and continuing to curate my fully offline iTunes library (I still call it iTunes -- ha)
Dont you have to sub to AM to use the offline library feature? IE I have FLAC rips of albums from obscure metal bands which are not available on iTunes or AM. I currently can listen to them on my AM music account since I uploaded them.

Don't like how Apple Music messed with the music I already own. I'll keep my own purchased music and use Spotify to stream, so I don't lose my catalogue of stuff I've bought/ripped over the years, etc.

Exactly why I totally avoid Apple Music online services/functions of all kinds

Long ago something of theirs screwed with a bunch of my metadata (maybe iTunes Match? can't recall what it was) and it took me years of fixing (literally).

How it worked BEFORE Apple Music subscriptions is still how it works. Rip CDs to add to a collection. Buy & Download singles. Take advantage of free offers run by various companies giving away free music in promotions. Once imported into your library, they are yours to keep even if you quit paying "forever rent."

Organize your own collection into playlists and then sync those playlists with your iDevices to enjoy them wherever you go... even when out of reach of wifi or cellular. No iCloud required.

Turn on Home Sharing to share the same library with all other devices in your home, including AppleTV probably connected to the best speakers in your home.

Forever rent is only one option. The other is owning. A third is both. Only one of those doesn't ding your credit card every month for the rest of your life... nor kill your (actually access to THEIR) "collection" if you ever choose to not pay that rent.

Honestly I was subscribed to Sirius XM for years. Got a free three month subscription to Apple Music because I purchased a MacBook Air. Wow. Goodbye Sirius XM. Apple Music doesn't have things like Stern, sports, news, but I just wanted the music.

Have a free 3 month offer that I’m not going to use, tried it a few years ago but it’s just not for me. Prefer playing my own ripped music thru AM
