How about adding a repeat and shuffle button on the player - you know, so that you don't have to use an non-intuitive scroll down gesture in order to see... #Priorities
Well their priorities have shifted to deciding its more important to have sufficient space to show which device you are streaming music to like Airpods or HomePod. Along with adding a song and the "..." for more options. If it was all reversed you'd be right back here saying "how about adding a button to the now playing screen to add a song to my library".How about adding a repeat and shuffle button on the player - you know, that you don't have to scroll down and see... #Priorities
I think it is not bad in iTunes, I would like a slightly darker background though in iTunes and on iOS.it is even worse via itunes.. apple music looks like it was organized by an intern...and that may even be an insult to interns.
The mobile version is easier to use. The iTunes desktop version is terrible and I will drop iTunes when they implement a proper web player.I never understood why people say Apple Music interface is a mess. So is every other major music streaming service to some degree. They have the near impossible task of being a "one-stop shop" for 40 million songs and tens of millions of users. Improvements can always be made but I'd hardly call it a mess. Everyone expects something slightly different since music is a very personal thing.
Spotify does a few things better than Apple Music and visa versa.
Everyone wants to complain but few have any solution on how to do it better. Theres a reason Apple and Spotify have loads of happy music customers. Clearly they're doing something right.
I listen to smooth jazz and find it annoying too when I see a new album from lets say "Euge Groove" and there is only one track. I want the entire album not one track. And remove singles from the album list. For some artists, it clutters the album list view to the point where it is unusable.
Sorry but AM has the best sound quality. It is because of the superior AAC codec they use and the remasterd albums. Nothing else sounds good.OMG! FINALLY Apple Music HD?
No of course not... I'll stick to Tidal![]()
Since when AAC can compare to WAV or FLAC which is miles ahead in terms of sound quality and compression? He was comparing AM sound quality to Tidal not Spotify.Sorry but AM has the best sound quality. It is because of the superior AAC codec they use and the remasterd albums. Nothing else sounds good.
Spotify sounds terrible after reactivating a 3 month trail I am already dropping it. However if you want the worst of the worst mud low bit rate quality try the new YouTube Music it sounds really bad.
But didn’t you try tidal? You mention everything else but what the other person mentioned which is tidal. I had tidal for free for a year and was pretty good in terms of sound.Sorry but AM has the best sound quality. It is because of the superior AAC codec they use and the remasterd albums. Nothing else sounds good.

I don't understand how AM on iTunes is terrible? It's very staight foward, library, for you, explore, radio, same as the mobile App.Can you hide the new music mix? I hate that.
At least a future web player which works again but is limited can make me hide the new music mix using uBlock. Mobile app no big deal don't bother clicking on the For You Tab.

Now they need to add the option to read reviews of albums, and I will be happy. Oh, and also allow us to sort an artists album by popularity, not release date,.

Its a minor compromise.

Do you use the products or you just talk whatever fits your argument? Where is there space down there for the controls when an external sound source is connected?View attachment 765455
Wrong. I bet you’re not a UX designer. Or if you are, you’re a terrible one. Even with the AirPlay icon, there is a ton of white space in the existing UI. For example, these spots in the attached image.
Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music - literally every music player in existence has these commonly used functions on easy access on the player window.
Apple was wrong to make users scroll to find them. Period.
Not quite the same. Spotify highlights all new albums in their catalog daily. Artist info. They have music videos. No idea about upcoming albums, though. Regardless, this is a wonderful addition to Apple Music.Oh my god, is this an actual useful update to Apple Music? Waiting for someone to tell me Spotify or Tidal does this already...
Most of what you refer to as ‘the down controls’ aka Up Next is useless for many people.Do you use the products or you just talk whatever fits your argument? Where is there space down there for the controls when an external sound source is connected?

The down controls are useless for the majority of people.
No I just have common sense that I know that when AirPlay is active it displays the name of the currently playing speaker at a glance. So there actually isn’t any space there when it’s playing on anything other than the iPhone . Nice try tho.View attachment 765455

Yes and putting those icons there would cause people to accidentally trigger them. Since they would be so close they’d be constantly accidentally tiggered. I really hope you aren’t a UX designer because the interface you propose would be a cluttered mess. Apple has to design for millions users as the common denominator. Deal with it or move on. Do you plan on making anymore mockups of where the buttons should go??? Why not next to the album art. Clearly it’s all fair game for you. Maybe stick them on top of the album art....there’s some space there right???Most of what you refer to as ‘the down controls’ aka Up Next is useless for many people.
But that’s my point. Repeat and shuffle are often used functions for many people and they should be more easily accessible.
You’re still wrong. Even if your AirPlay connection name is long and fills that space, there is still a crap ton of space for them to put those icons.
Using your example, they could nudge the back and forward arrows out a little and easily for these countrols somewhere in between and a bit lower.
The AirPlay is not the linchpin you are suggesting it is that prevents them from putting the icons here. Literally every music player on earth except Apple Music has these functions in the main player accesible by tapping once.

But Apple is wrong right?? They created a service used by tens of millions. When you do that then you can reap some credibility.

Wrong yet again. Yes there’s plenty of space, even with the long AirPlay icon at the bottom and no, it wouldn’t cause people to accidentally trigger them.
Screenshot from Spotify UI. The placement of theirs is perfect and nobody has issues accidentally clicking these. Amazon’s player is the same. Pandora’s is the same. Virtually every digital music player is the same.
Only Apple Music emits these functions on the default screen.
Why would anyone defend such a terrible UX design desicion for these commonly used icons being buried in an unintuitive ‘hidden’ downward swipe in the UI when they could very easily and elegantly be put on the main window like everyone else in the world has done?
For heaven’s sake, Apple’s old iTunes music player on iOS used to have them there.
There is literally no good reason for them not to be there. None. They put them there to try and push people to use ‘Up Next’ and still nobody does.
I used to pay for Apple Music, but not having these buttons more easily accisible was a dealbreaker. That and several key missing features that other players like Spotify have (duplicate song detection when adding to playlists, ability to sort songs within playlists by date added, title, artist).
If Apple would only integrate Apple music into the "Store" directly, there would be no need to manage them separately this music..
"Buy" or "listen on Apple music" These "link" to coming soon can all be done from the "Store" description, videos and all.
