Go Tommy Motolla

Apple should Hire former Sony/ Columbia Records CEO Tommy Motolla since he is pretty much a Free Agent now , think about it Tommy has over 13yrs in the business as a Proven CEO , let's face it Steve Jobs is a brillant mind but he knows crap about running a record company and that takes a certain kind of person , a cut throat of some sort inorder to prosper in the Shady(not shady as in Eminem) Music Industry , so while Tommy Runs the music division Jobs can keep focus on whats important and that's Apple Computers . Jobs can rest easy knowing that the company is in good hands. Jobs should really make this move trust me as smart as he is, he does not want to deal with the Million and One Bullsh*t Artist music Executives All alone. This is Just Food for thought you do this dishes.

I don't know anything about commercials. How long would it take to cast, film, edit, a commercial?

I guesws I got the impression that the music service was coming Real Soon Now but if they haven't even cast for the ads yet, then maybe it's still quite a way off?

Actually, I think this implies that the ads are going to be aired pretty soon. I think that commercials are usually made a very short time before they are sent, because they have to be very up to date and fresh in every way (ie. let's say they shoot a comercial for a new music download service, and wait a month before airing it, and suddenly one of the actors in the film dies or is caught shoplifting or something, then they would'nt want to send it. This is just one example, maybe a stupid one...). Also, a short timeframe between shooting and airing would give those involved little time to spread rumors and such, if there is going to be surprise elements in the ad.
I think a week is not a short estimate. The casting would probably be the most time-consuming element, especially if this is going to be a typical Apple-ad with a no-nonsense, minimal expression; white backgrounds and such.

awesome more proof that the service and maybe the ipods are coming!! There really is a need for a easy music service. I would pay for the songs and help apple at the same time!!

can't wait!!

We should find out so MacRumors can sing in a giant chorus. What a great spot that would be for Apple: a few hundred Mac users doing the chorus line leg kick on a football field and singing some bad '80s pop at the top of our lungs. Ok, maybe it's not such a good idea.

maybe a microphone for iPod?

Why the singing? Odd I would think for an iPod/iTunes commercial.

I'm now hopeful for an integrated microphone input for the iPod, though I can imagine that there could also be a consumer level music creation app as well.

Some suggestions...

If you're interested in auditioning for this commercial, you might try the local model and talent agencies in your area. From my experience, advertising agencies will usually send off these casting calls to all the major model and talent agencies around (even when they're looking for "real" people). (You don't have to be a model of course, I sure as hell am not one)

Here's the legitimate ones in Seattle:

Seattle Models Guild (SMG)
(206) 622-1406
http://www.smgmodels.com/

TCM Agency
(206) 728-4826
http://www.tcmmodels.com/

Heffner Management
(206) 622-2211
http://www.heffnermgmt.com/

...and the Portland area:

Cusick's Talent Agency
(503) 274-4615
http://www.q6talent.com/

Ryan Artists, Inc.
(503) 274-1005
http://www.ryanartists.com/

I haven't had the time to check with any of them yet to see if they've received the casting call, but maybe one of you guys will have some luck.

Hope this helps some of you!

now that i think about it, it is probably an iPod commercial. a music service c ommercial, maybe, but they have to tell the people that do it what it is for (at least they most likely would).
one of us needs to get into the system, and find out what it is for!

I can see Apples new one liner now.

Is it stealing if you're the one singing it?

good one!

i can sing...but where can i audition?

apple should do like this thing where they get all these mac heads with great voices singing what a wonderful world with steve jobs and woz :D

switch style... :(

Should be an offer for both union and non-union -- otherwise Apple will get a black-eye for this. Lot's of union-folk out of work who aren't "big-named".
This will be more switch style ads... lame!!!

the switch campaign is over. or at least the commercials are. some people bought it, and others didn't. i think they are going to do "real people" ads, but no more switch style ones.

at least that's what i think.

Skeptical...come on "Apple Computers"????

"casting for Apple Computers"

Do you really think an advertising agency wouldn't get the name of their *client* correct? Somehow that doesn't seem likely.

Ya know, this makes me wonder... could the need for people to sing signify the arrival of long-awaited audio recording ability on the new iPods? Please please please! :D

boy i love how everyone picks apart rumors right to the bone. Singing could be just singing, ever thought about that, it does not mean there is a built in Mic with voice nav or an internal mic that lets you record your music and edit it on the fly. I realize this is a rumor site, but some of you people need to put down the mouse and go sit outside for a while...

Here's some more info....

OK guys, I had an actor friend (and Mac enthusiast) call his agent to find out some info on the commercial. Here's what he found out:

1. Casting call will take place in LA.
2. No singing is required, but they may call upon you to sing your favorite song. They want people who like to listen to music.
3. The commercial is for, and I'm quoting what the agent said, "Some sort of internet music service."
4. Supposedly they limited the number of people at the casting call, and the limit has already been reached.

Exactly, some people here are such idiots. Even I am able to sing along with my tunes and be happy while listening to music. Some of these people obviously don't get that they want to show people *ENJOYING* the music they get with this new service and listen to on their Macs and iPods.

Just for the record: I am happily using my Ti outside on the porch right now. Does a trackpad count as no mouse? :D
