Yau, that wurks fer me, yup.

Has anyone considered the possibility of the long awaited sound/music editing program?

that's also a possibility, but everything is a possibility.
new iPods in febuary was a possibility.
new iPods in march was a possibility.
new iPods in the first week of april was a possibility.
i guess im kind of pissed that new ipods aren't here yet. but none the less, all of these possibilities are getting mine, and probably other people's hopes up.

Do you really think an advertising agency wouldn't get the name of their *client* correct? Somehow that doesn't seem likely.

That's what I was thinking. But on the other hand, it could always just be a typo on behalf of whoever submitted the ad in the first place.

Does anyone remember 48 Hours? Remember Eddie Murphy singing "Roxanne" while listening to his headphones... and how ridiculous it sounded? That's what I envision here if the press release is even true.

Ironic, isn't it?

Singing could be just singing, ever thought about that, it does not mean there is a built in Mic with voice nav or an internal mic that lets you record your music and edit it on the fly. I realize this is a rumor site, but some of you people need to put down the mouse and go sit outside for a while...

Geez...I wonder if your glass is always half empty...

Singing in this commercial may not signify audio recording capabilities [I lean towards this speculation as well] but what's the harm in desiring this feature?

Lighten up.

As stated by you: "boy i love how everyone picks apart rumors right to the bone."

Hypocrite.

Here's to all possibilities. Realistic and otherwise...:)

how the **** am i a hypocrite? Really...I would like to know since you are so defensive about what I said. You need to learn what hypocrite means...

Yowza.

I do a little on-camera work and steer a lot of people to casting calls...and all the speculation vis a vis union/non-union, singing, etc. were WAY off from the realities of the biz. {For example, mentioning non-union availability is pretty common...]

Perhaps folks should keep that in mind when they're commenting on rumors from outside their realm of knowledge.

My source is telling me something a little different from what RBMaraman reports. I was told the commercial is for iPod, and people would be singing VERY LOUD while they are using their iPods (wearing headphones) in various places, one example given was a grocery store. We'll see what happens soon, it seems this is being done with a very tight turnaround.

Article on iPod's

A great, if not technically slanted article on Apple, the iPod, and its' components can be found at the link below. I find interesting a couple of things they mention:

"There's a lot of embedded stuff" inside the design, says Hayes. "It has some fairly complex DSP algorithms to enable the features of the products that Apple may or may not be taking advantage of."

- AAC maybe??

"Managing that activity [among multiple partners] becomes extremely difficult," says Asgekar, as projects become harder to coordinate. "You have to make sure your supplier's development and marketing roadmaps match up with your development and marketing roadmaps."

- 5GB fiasco?

Anyway, here's the link:

Samuel Beckett is so cool. Apple should do a commercial where people act out a scene from one of his plays.

I've scoured the apple store website, but I can't find any changes. I think they did it just to try to incite some more rumors. What do you think?

I did some research on the iPod many months ago. And the chip inside it is capable of many things not yet used. Such as native AAC and WMA decoding, external devices (I seem to remember thinking you could plug in a firewire CD burner and burn CD's from it) and much much more. The chip inside is way more complex than is really necessary just for playing MP3's.

Yeah, but the rhetoric was too good; the whole piece flowed from start to finish, with topics weaving around a central point to which they kept returning. Poetry, actually.

Hey, has anyone thought that Steve maybe just likes screwing with our heads?

A day at Apple:
Steve- "How's the new iPod going?"
Generic Worker- "Very well, it's ready for production by next week."
Steve- "Good. Let's have some fun, now. Release a fake casting call for a commercial, 'leak' two blueprints for failed prototypes, and buy another random company."
Generic Worker- "Yes sir!"

...Just a thought. :D

Bob Knob,
I think you might be right about this commercial. I just spoke with my actor friend, and he explained that his agent has gotten some more information on the nature of the commercial. The information you provided is correct.

BUT....Apple is also holding a private casting call, and the information I provided coincides with that. So, it sounds like Apple is casting for 2 very different commercials (while maintaining a common theme).

I think it's possible that one commercial is for new iPod's, and the other commercial is for the music service.

I guess we will just have to wait and see.....

Gosh I can't wait for all of this, and I'm about to sell my clie, does anyone think I should buy an ipod now and that the posibly new models won't look as cool etc. Or should I wait and get the possibly new models? I'm about to cry, will the models now be compatible with the new service? What should I do? [breath heavily] I want it now! [/breath]

Well, if you had been reading earlier, the "developers developers developers developers" post by me was a ballmer mating call, and it took him a while to get here. He was just ruffling his feathers :p

We must keep in mind that Apple is more than a computer company. They do more than just make computers. They make computers easier to use. This is their marketing point. Kinda. Or so I thought...

In the your opinion they may look less or more cool, but either way, there's a very good chance the features will be even better than now.

And to be fair, whatever it looks like, it'll be better than anything anyone else can come up with!:D

God damn! I guess no matter how long you have spent on other forums you always have to start of as a newbie on the next. Please forgive my slow and foolishness, Im just entering account-puberty here :p
