Apple Music +

Will be part of the Apple One tiers.

There is no extra Apple Music tier been found in the code as you can't access Music + any other way than having a One subscription.

#justaguess

The only reason Apple would release this for free would be to annoy Spotify. But the drive to bottom price wise (either by reducing prices or by adding value without increasing the price) has never been Apple's style so I doubt it will happen.

"Music is About to Change Forever" ???

As usual, Apple loves to take someone else's idea and "invent" it. There's been several streaming services with lossless hi-res audio for some time now -- including Amazon.
I can't see slightly better sound quality changing music forever, the main event here is Spacial audio.

I fully expect this will be the differentiating feature of the new AirPods which are rumoured to debut alongside this new tier of Apple Music. Expect them to stay at their current price point (£159) with the current AirPods dropping to £99.

I think we can expect better audio quality and Spatial audio.

However, it looks like Amazon already beat them to the punch, providing 3D Audio with their Amazon Music HD subscription, where they have already released over a thousand titles remastered in Dolby Atmos and Sony's 360 Reality Audio.

Has anyone tried this out yet?

Okay this could be the gentle push that takes me off spotify
There's a lot more to switching than you would honestly think. Not sure if you have actually tried Apple Music before, but it is very different and there are certain features lacking/different from Spotify that makes the swap difficult. I was a spotify user since probably 2013 or 2014. It took me going back and forth for like a year before I fully adjusted to Apple Music and have been for over a year, but there is still a lot of what I thought were basic features that I miss from Spotify.

I’m not surprised to see all these people having orgasms over Apple finally implementing a piece of technology that has been available for decades.

I think people are more excited with the possibility to stream lossless audio without paying more. And the ability to let go of the lossless local files.

I think they'll be less excited when they realise no existing Apple device is capable of utilising said feature [not to say that Apple don't have some new codec to allow it on the way, but I doubt it]

I wouldn't be shocked if you can also enjoy Atmos music through an Apple TV 4K hooked up to an Atmos sound system.

I have an Atmos soundbar. It is great for watching Atmos compatible videos and playing Atmos compatible games. What is good about having Atmos when playing music?

Hey all,
I've been asking around to see if anyone can tell me if this new service will work with high res audio devices such as Echo Studio, which does lossless, 3D, and Atmos. I have the amazon HD service, and it sounds really nice on the supported songs. I also have my current Apple music account linked to Alexa, and of course I have my apple devices such as Apple TV(s), Mac, and iPhone 12 Pro Max, as well ad an iPad Air 2. I was mainly hoping I could use the new lossless service with my Echo Studio, since it's one of my dedicated audio devices. I never bought a HomePod because Siri has never been a good enough assistant for the balance I'd want between good sound and smart speaker.

You are correct, I've had a go at Apple music a few times and it's not a easy transition which is why I am still on Spotify. That and also my carrier is offering to pay half my subscription to Spotify. In saying that, I've been looking at Tidal for a while and have a collection of high end IEM/Headphones so lossless is very appealing so Spotify need to hurry up and release their hifi service soon.

I was a TIDAL user but didn't want to be tied to MQA for highres (and my streamer doesn't support it anyway). I use Qobuz. It's $5/mon less than TIDAL, and sticks to open/free standards (FLAC) for highres audio. You can get a free trial.

Thanks will give them a go

Edit* oh wow not just lossless but 24 bit, this is really appealing, I'm trying them out now with my STAX. I used to have to buy all my fav albums from HDTracks for 24 bit. Thanks for introducing me to this, Spotify subscription is at the edge of being canceled now

I don’t subscribe to them but do purchase my lossless music from Qobuz, definitely a great shop so if the streams don’t buffer then likely an amazing streaming service too. Best lossless selection for purchase by far, at least available in the US.

I stream Qobuz via Roon on a Naim Audio system. The sound quality is excellent.

Mildly tangential, but I DID ignore the urge to drop $550.00+ on the Air Pods Max that I found at the local Worst Try. (Actually, that's a lie. They weren't in my color . (Pink! (🤢🤮 (Actually Sky Blue, in case anyone is in a giving mood)) But...)

But I did buy the Studio3 Black/Gold, and they are AWESOME!!! :)cool:But a mini USB connector? Really?)
