How is this any different than CarPlay? Obviously it’s not synced to your phone, but wireless CarPlay is already on the Porsche line.

CarPlay still seems like the preferred method simply for using our own maps.

If I steal the radio out of a Porsche Taycan and put it in my Toyota Yaris will it still get the full Apple Music streaming support/integration? Anyone see any parked Taycans lately? This is just a hypothetical question.

Weird is right. Seems like someone from MR got an old press release pushed to their timeline... saw the 8/20 date... missed the 2019 vs 2020, and decided to write an article about year old news. MR even included the link to the year old press release where it says 2019 two times before even getting to the meat of the release. Yet we still have this article. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah, it appears Porsche briefly republished the press release with today's date on it in error and has since corrected it back to 2019. We added an update note to the article.

Porsche should release a new version of their low-end RWD Panamara 4-door sedan, with a Naturally-aspirated version of their 4.0L V8:

* 370 HP @ 6,250 RPM

* 370 LB-FT @ 2,750 RPM

* 3,700 LBS curb weight !

* 6-speed manual !

* Hydraulic-assist Power Steering !

* Shorten the wheelbase to 110" !

* Base MSRP of ~$80K ($7.2K less than current)

Would be Porsche's Best Seller, By Far !

Would be the Benchmark against which ALL other cars would be compared !

If Apple's Upper Mgmt was smart, they would place an Order with Porsche for 100 of those, soup them up with Apple Electronics, & use them for Promo purposes ! ... & possible also as an Apple bennie to select employees !

I call it the GTS Lite !

You get a $100K car

YOU get a $100K car

EVERYONE GETS A $100K CAR!!

Who can afford this stuff?

I can’t believe people would spend that amount of money on a car like that and the screen is SO small. My Honda Civic has a screen twice as big as that one

My car has a pretty small screen and it's fine because I'm busy, you know, paying attention to the actual driving?

Apple Music is ****. The first Apple product that I have cancelled and plan to never return to. The second one is CarPlay in the BMW. Absolute garbage reliability. Only benefit worth going through the process of repairing the stupid phone is the updated maps in Apple and Google maps apps in a rural area recently developed into suburbia.

Eddie Cue must go.

People spending $100K on a car aren't necessarily concerned with the size of the infotainment screen. Brand? Overall aesthetics of the vehicle? Quality of interior materials? Performance? Yes, yes, yes and yes. Big screen? Prolly not. Heck, even at Honda Civic price range, the size of the screen isn't really that big of a deal. The "quirks and features" ← Hi Doug! of the system are more important than the size of the screen.

But fear not my good fellow. That Taycan has 3 infotainment screens. An upper, lower, and gauge cluster screen. ;)

The screen actually stretches all the way across the dash. To the right where it says "Taycan" is actually a screen too. Also the part behind the steering wheel... yes, all screen.

Ha, that's funny. Admittedly, I'd never heard of the Taycan, so I found it mildly interesting regardless :p

Sure sure, not like anyone is going to engage more with a huge, brightly colored and constantly changing interface that has zero tactile cues.

Most cars like that also have better voice assistance. I’ve had 4”, 10”, and 15” screens. The bigger the screen the better the voice commands are.

The people who spend that much on a car don't have to make ends meet. They have plenty of disposable (pun intended) income. They often have employees (like myself) who create a money for them.
They like the customization that is possible with Porsche. The car can be unique like a piece of custom made jewelry.
