At first i felt uncomfortable leaving Spotify (since I finally wanted to stream music by just carrying my watch). After I've gotten used to the interface, i actually enjoy using AM over Spotify. Really like watching the wide variety of Music Videos on the Treadmill, switching the songs to other devices like the HomePod etc.

Try as I might, I couldn't get the service to find new music for me – even after relentlessly liking and disliking songs. I kept getting the same lame top 40 pop and mass-market hip-hop.
Same here! In fact I hate Hit Hop. Sung by a bunch of men that have self esteem issues and no respect for women.
Why Apple! Why!

The person who signs up for the free trial will see their subscription renew after a month, or one month after the standard free trial.
my interetation of this is that if they don’t actively cancel, they would start paying the subscription after the month if they have previously used the three free months. Why do that to a friend?

So Apple is getting into network marketing. Okay I guess. I wonder if you can get a term life policy along with that trial membership. ;)

The conspiracy theorist in me says Apple's iPhone woes may have been worse than they claim. They seem to trying every budget marketing and sales technique known to man... all at the same time.

The pragmatist in me says Apple is just exploring alternative ways to reach customers.
The pragmatist in me drinks to much so what does he know. :p:D

You are not the product. But your friends? Your friends and family? Your friend's family and your family's friends? Product.:p

Except that Apple already did this type of promotion for Apple Music in the past years when there were no iPhone sales hiccups. If you just read the article you would have saved you and ourself the time need to write and read something totally uninformed and meaningless. Plus, "You are not the product", looks like you don't understand the meaning of that sentence. Believe, before posting comments two other activities are mandatory: READ and THINK ;):p

@69Mustang, put a pin on that one. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I was a day one subscriber in Canada, but bailed a month ago for Spotify. The interface for Apple Music is clumsy but more importantly, the music recommendations just don't work. Try as I might, I couldn't get the service to find new music for me – even after relentlessly liking and disliking songs. I kept getting the same lame top 40 pop and mass-market hip-hop.

Spotify looks into the play lists of users who have tracks you play.
You are likely to like other music on their play lists. This way recommendations are more pertinent.

Dear Apple,
Spotify, at $10 a month, is better than Apple Music for free. It just is. Download the app and see for yourself!
I'm very happy you enjoy your "superior' music service. It's too bad I have to pay whole 69 euros a year for this garbage Apple is selling.

Is this Apple's response to higher Spotify user subscriptions? If anything users will try Apple music and leave it in 1 hour or less.

It never fails. Apple gives a free month to someone new (for a total of 4 months) and many of you complain and see the act as something terrible.

I shouldn't have to point out the obvious, that not everyone has the same musical taste, feature needs or UI preferences. Apple music works for a lot of people. If it doesn't work for you, fine. No need to keep denigrating the service posts after post.

And for non-members reading the thread, please give the free 3 month trial a chance. If you listen to all the naysayers, you may miss a service that you would like.

Your point doesn't make sense. You stated that if someone doesn't like Apple Music it's fine yet they shouldn't point out their flaws, how else is Apple supposed to "listen" to users feedback? Apple Music is lacking a lot compared to Spotify, buffering, gapless playback, UI, playlists, song recommendations and searching. These are the main principals of a great straight forward Music Streaming Service and Apple Music fails in all of them.

I didn't say one couldn't voice an opinion. Send the feedback to Apple. Mocking Apple and denigrating them for making the offer (in and of itself) is wrong, in my opinion.

They aren't making an offer out of good will, this is simply to boost sales so it's perfectly reasonable for them being mocked out, since they can't compete with Spotify, instead they have to offer free subscriptions.

The lack of gapless playback is a serious omission and ruins albums where tracks merge into one another. That would probably be 50% if prog rock
And the screen not rotating to landscape is just as serious from a UI aspect.
