In my opinion, Amazon has displayed far more innovation than Apple.
In what way? What has amazon done that is innovative in 2017?

Personally I think that SpaceX should be much higher than 14

IOS 11 out 23 weeks with 13 software releases. Average every couple weeks a new release. Not once a week just seems that way. Especially if one has a family with multiple IOS devices to update. Just think how many world wide hours of lost productivity Apple has caused. Ridiculous!

Automatic updates?

More confirmation, if it was needed, that this is Apple’s real USP and is what they absolutely need to be laser focused on...

Not running the beta version actually, I mean iOS 11 in general.

Sarcasm, but not without merit, iOS 11 has been the worst release in terms of the number of bugs, I don’t think that’s even subjective at this point.

iOS 11 has been the worse release in a long time, yes. But hyperbole will be used by the Apple Defense Force as a way to dismiss your opinion

Maybe you should ask Alexa to read the article for you next time.
Amazon is in the ranking too, number 5. Do you want to claim Amazon paid for this as well?

Yes. Still trying to figure Amazon's "innovations"?? 3rd rate personal assistant that is locked to their crap?

It seems as though every article I read has some jackass analyst or critic writing about Apple not being able to innovate anymore, yet on this list the company is the top of companies being able to innovate. I'm not going to go by just a single list but if Apple makes it into the top five on multiple lists, then those critics are either liars or Apple haters. Innovation is a very difficult metric to evaluate and is probably based on what some people consider innovation in a product. I know there were a lot of damn fools laughing at Apple when Apple first came out with the A-series 64-bit mobile processor. Everyone said it was practically useless and yet a year later every smartphone company was asking for a 64-bit processor.

Reporter: "Congrats on the award Tim. What's going to be your next move?"

Tim: "We're going to remove AirPlay 2 from iOS because we haven't figured it out yet."

Fast Company: "We're going to need our award back Tim."
Mary-Kate Christensen: “You can't rush excellence.”

Trust issues on Apple automatic updates. Past experience not that good. Apple TV, set to auto update, waited weeks never happened. To your point, they get their act together, an option.

Apple may be making advancements but they are not doing it particularly well. Gone are the days of rock solid products. Maybe they should take some time improve the quality of their innovative offerings I keep hearing about.

I guess you don't remember the early days of OS X when it seemed like an eternity before major bugs in the OS and Finder were fixed. Or OS 8, or.... For all the complaining, many of us who use Apple products heavily in our day-to-day work aren't experiencing any problems at all. Systems are orders of magnitude more complex than they were 10 years ago, and Apple is doing just fine.

Skeptics and fans alike are forgetting the definition of innovate. It simply means to do something differently, or change something. It doesn’t mean that the approach or change is an improvement. That interpretation was made by business management gurus who also confuse the word with invent. It’s accurate to say that Apple innovates more than it invents, but that its innovations have had mass appeal.

I absolutely agree - SpaceX would be at the top of my list but I don’t know if they were included in this list as they’re not really a consumer-goods company and they’re also not public.

As for what has amazon done that is innovative? Amazon Go revolutionized the grocery store, Alexa continues to show how in-home ordering with voice is the future, there’s other things I’m forgetting too.

...annual rankings of the 50 most innovative companies...

...Its accomplishments boosted it up three spots from last year, when it was ranked the number four most valuable company in the 2017 list....

This article's attributed to MacRumors Bot: Is there a human who can clarify or correct the statements in the article? Is it "most innovative' or is it "most valuable"? Editing!!!

Hardware and Software integration does not mean much when you have to update your device almost every single week :(

I'm not sure why this is a big deal to you. Most of these software updates are a minute or two, and they'll happen overnight if you let them.

I'd rather they pull it for now and only push it when it works than throw it out and have it work poorly.
It's not about it working or not, it's a matter that Apple has had so many paper launches since Tim Cook has taken over. I believe there was an article at the end of 2017 highlighting the time from announcement to actual release of products and Tim Cook was far beyond Steve Jobs.

Maybe Tim needs to learn to keep features a secret until they're actually ready to be announced. This just makes them look incompetent and it's bad press.

I’m sure someone will call me a hater, but...

Amazon - because we all want our fresh food decisions made by warehousers with a dumpster fire of an e-commerce site

CVS Health - because the worst retail experience in America should be providing our healthcare

The Washington Post - because quality journalism is too expensive when top 7 lists and zero writing skills come cheap!

I’ll vote for Apple when I see more than $1,200 devices for animating poop emojis.
Because people spent $1200 only just for those animojis, right? Not really the phone's amazing hardware and software but for that only one feature - Animojis. Now you can tell me if it's not justified if people call you a hater?
