Not saying everyone should go and do this, but if you complain, or had to return a phone several times because you feel the reception problem was an issue, depending on how u ask you can probably get one for free for your troubles. I was able to get a free incase case for my macbook pro in 2009 when i had to bring it back a few times for scratches out of the box.

They were very accommodating.

Just do not abuse it, it's launch day and stressful.

I think they knew about the reception issue. Why else are they making accessories themselves. Why else would these cases ONLY COVER THE SIDES OF THE PHONE (and for a ridiculous $30 I might add). I smell a class action suit brewing.

wise man. Its no fun living life blind

+3

No issues here either these antenna issues seem to isolated

+4 +5 - my wife and I received 2 perfect iPhones yesterday. I activated mine first, her old 3GS had no signal at a couple points during the day while my 4 had full bars. I'm thinking all these "problems" are isolated incidents that Apple will work out with the buyers.

My bumpers and docks are coming via FedEx in a separate shipment. I cruised my the Michigan Ave. store here in Chicago today to see if they had any in stock buy the line stretched all the way around the block. I can wait a few days for fedex.

no issues for me, nor my girlfriend, nor my sister, nor the two other coworkers that got theirs. stop whining, its an isolated issue.

I have no idea how this could warrant a class action lawsuit, nor a lawsuit of any kind. There are no grounds.

I don't know, I've had it happen to me a few times depending on where I was (downtown vs. at home). I think if the signal is strong enough (like when I'm at work) then it won't happen no matter how hard you try. However, if you're in a weaker area (like my home) then it happens much more readily. If it's not an isolated issue then yes I agree we should at least get a discount on bumpers.

But hey, I think we need more definitive proof on the cause of the interference first.

Well then i need a case for my Nexus one for free then to,

Because i just held the back of my Nexus one for over 10 seconds and my Signal dropped.

same, no issues at all

It really depends on how moist your fingers are and where you hold the phone. I played with it a bit on two different phones and it was easy to make the signal drop. Even before the release of the phone, there was at least one person who predicted this would happen based on the design.

I could not replicate it except maybe a one bar loss. Not sure how this is happening with others. But, the bumper helps this issue for sure, as seen on a few blogs.

I'm going to pick up the bumper today since I tend to slide my phone across the table as I put it down.

When she says "It's not you, it's me.", she really means, "It's you".

It's you.

Fail.

Wake up and smell your overgrown sense of entitlement. You essentially bought an immediate launch day Rev. A product. You opted for growing pains. So shut up or go elsewhere.

Class action not a chance.

Free stuff neither.

I haven't been able to replicate the antenna problem at all.

One person mentioned that maybe if your hands are dry or clammy might make a difference (he found dry hands didn't affect it).

The screen does seem less white when I look at things like the calendar in comparison to my old phone. But I checked my roommate's new phone and it is the same and honestly, no yellow spots or stripes, just, not as white.

I have no issues with reception, but I also don't see any improvements either...

It's always difficult to gauge the prevalence of these things -- after all, people with problems are overwhelmingly more likely to voice their opinions than those without (if you go only by reviews you'd be looking at 50%+ failure rates on a lot of HDDs). You're also more likely to see problem users because the number sold on the initial lot is significantly higher than similar devices.

Wouldn't deny the fact that problems are occurring, but I'd stop short of lining up in front of your local Apple store with a pitchfork until the dust settles a bit.

When i seen that there charging 30.00 for a damn rubber outter ring for the phone i almost fell over...

I know Apple products have a price tag which is fine, but a rubber ring for 30.00? there raping people!!!!! Jesus.....

Actually, I don't have an issue with my phone. But apparently lots of others do. But it was nice to see the responses. I would never but a "case" on my phone. Never have. Never will. If Apple wanted me to have a case, they would have put one in the box.

Screw that, I wouldn't want to use it even if it was free. I hate cases because they typically make it harder to slip the phone in and out of your pocket and Im sure a rubber case would do exactly that.

so far so good. no reception issues covering the metal band, no discoloration... this display is jawdropping.... screw the bumpers! This thing is beautiful

Just finished syncing my phone. Unfortunately, it does seem to have The Reception Issue, but in the brief testing I did it didn't lose service completely. I'll try again here in a few.

I had more dropped calls with my 3GS than with the new phone.
I guess I got lucky getting a good one.

no they need to do recall. no bumpers, cases, wraps, or gloves please. it's not a diamond rolex.
