WSJ on its own costs much more than $10 per month, so what’s the catch? Do you get access to all WSJ articles?

EDIT: Found my answer.

“As for cannibalization, the WSJ has something of an ace in the hole, as only select content will be made available to News+ subscribers.

"Is all our content going on Apple News?" Lewis said. "No. We're going to make sure the Apple News product is a wonderful product people feel comfortable investing in."”

https://appleinsider.com/articles/1...d-to-new-subscribers-not-cannibalization/amp/

Bummer.

That information from Apple Insider is incorrect. Here's the correct info direct from the pages of the WSJ:

"The partnership carries risks for the Journal, since each Apple user will generate much less subscription revenue for the company than a full-priced subscriber. Journal executives said they weren’t concerned about existing subscribers canceling service to shift to the Apple service, because the two offerings will be fundamentally different.

The Apple app will surface stories thought to be of interest to a general reader—that could be national news, politics, sports and leisure news, but also some business news, people familiar with the situation said. The paper’s entire slate of business and financial news will also be searchable within the app, but the thinking is that most users won’t consume much beyond what is actively presented to them.

Apple users will have access to only three days’ worth of the Journal’s archive, the people said. The Journal also negotiated terms that would allow it to drop out of the service, they said."

In other words, all WSJ articles will be available on News+ but will require a search to find any of the articles not included in the News+ curation.

Just canceled Texture. Not even sure why Apple didn't let subscribers just port over since the company owns both services.

Texture should be toast soon

I can't get family sharing to work on apple news+. what do you have to have checked in settings for that to work?
Was looking at this myself. Don’t know if we are supposed to use FS Purchases (we don’t use this currently) or if there will be a separate option like with Music or if it just doesn’t work with the trial.

I’d like to test the trial exactly like production. Hope we get guidance on FS soon!

I honestly wish this was a service like Amazon Prime Channels. These magazines are okay... But, what I really want is The Economist and Financial Times. I know that $9.99 is not enough to justify them getting on board - their content is high quality. However, do a premium add-on service like HBO and Starz. I'd be willing to pay an extra $9.99 for FT and The Economist. I would rather have a on-stop shop than having an APP for every magazine I own.

Also, I want newspapers!

It looks like magazines will show in the My Magazines section by marking it as a Favorite. I already had WIRED favorited in Apple News and it showed in My Magazines immediately after subscribing to News+.
If true, good thing. I read this:
Apple has no way to formally subscribe to an Apple News+ magazine, but every magazine that you open is listed in the "My Magazines" section at the top of the app. When new issues come out in magazines that you've read, the Apple News app will send you a notification.
and got concerned. Who needs to define “My Magazines” as anything you happened to open once?

Same here. Not working and I don’t have family sharing purchasing on. Sounds like that might be the issue. Anyone able to successfully use it with FS?

News flash, used the app last night and was fine. App crashes upon opening this morning. Out of service!

I’m having the same issue. I’m bummed because I am bored and looking for something to read
[doublepost=1553601821][/doublepost]I updated iOS this morning after waiting 18 hours to make sure it wasn’t bricking devices. When I launch the news app it crashes immediately. I’m bummed, I’m bored and looking for something to read.

I’d like to offer my take on News+, but since downloading 12.2 on my XS, my News app only crashes a few seconds after launch. I’ve restarted, tried cellular and WiFi networks independently. Boo this!

Anyone else caught in this News crash loop?

Update: filed a report with Apple Feedback. Found it interesting that in the toggle about which iOS version I was having an issue with, 12.2 wasn’t an option. Oh goodie.

For those that start their day with coffee and Apple News, I’d pass on an update until that is addressed.

Right now, I'd just be happy if I could open the app without it crashing on both my iPhone and iPad.

Edit: The Feedback app was still there, so I submitted a bug report. I suggest the rest of you having the crashing do the same.

Edit 2: I got a notification and was able to read it with no problem. I then intentionally went to the home page and it crashed. So I think some article is out of line on the main page. Which is still bad.

Same crashing on Xs and new iPad Pro. Reinstalling and restarting multiple times not fixed it. Posted issue on apple communities. Deleted and awaiting fix from apple.

Since 12.2 my Apple News app crashes after opening. Tried all usual steps like restarting, force closing, etc...

Well I had hoped for the option to buy a physical copy just by a click... that would’ve made it more Appleish. To bad.

Curious to know if anyone else is experiencing the “new” refreshed Apple news app to be crashing on their iPads?

I am currently observing the app crashing after being open for 10-15 seconds after updated to 12.2. I tried “deleting” and reinstalling the news app. I’ve tried. Rebooting the iPad. I’ve tried hard resetting the iPad.

I have an iPad Air 2 FWIW.

No issues on my iPhone X yesterday, but am now experiencing the same crashing issue today.

Same here. I think because we’re essentially getting it as a one month trial linked to our account. Once it becomes a subscription, like Apple Music, it will appear on your family devices.

The UI is absolutely terrible. There’s no way to see just magazines I’ve downloaded so that’s completely useless. I have to remember what I’ve downloaded and then find it again in the A-Z list. I love the concept, but not sure if we’ll stick with it without an easy way to see stuff you want.
Someone posted above that you can assign favorites. Have you found this?

When you are 'in' a magazine, there's a heart/unheart at the top. That makes it feed you articles from the magazine. How you actually get 'back' to that magazine I'm not sure (if you want to actually read the whole thing). The UI is decidedly weird.

You think with all the big hullabaloo they would make it work properly at release.
