The longer the free trial... the more likely people forget about unsubscribing!

In all seriousness, I use every Apple Service but this... I do not have even the slightest interest in trying it.

I'd be really surprised if that 3 month trial offer was a one time deal only. It's just false scarcity to get people to move.

I'm interested in it, but not right now. There are a few things in Apple News+ that I want to read, but I don't have the time to really dig in right now. I'll bet within a few months they just make it a standing offer indefinitely the way they did with Apple Music.

I go to the Apple store and scroll down until I see News+ "Start your 3 month free trial"
But when I tap it I get a button that says "Try 1 month free".
Seems inconsistent.
Which one is it?

Nope.

Free trials like these, the company hopes that people will forget to cancel their free trial and start paying after the free period is over.
I use a prepaid card with $0 on it for this stuff.
Definitely don't want to pay because they've been annoying. They try to make it more necessary by hiding all the free articles that cover the same news as the premium ones, and there's tons of spam telling you to buy it.

Might as well just do it to even see if it's remotely worth anything. I'll be sure to set a reminder to cancel it too, sorry Apple.

Hmm.. I’m really tempted. Now it shows 3 months free on my iPad but I already subscribed - and cancelled - a one month free trial. What if I hit that Get Started button???

What Apple really should have made instead of Apple news+ is an audiobooks/digital books subscription where you can read/listen to as many books as you want. I’d definitely pay for that.
As an omnivorous reader myself, I second that idea!

Yes, most are, especially the ones that Apple are “curating”. Especially since Tim Apple has become the most political CEO the company has ever seen.

Of the three people to be CEO of Apple you overlooked the one that actually was a politician.

I took the trial but the service I'd really like is this plus video feeds from CNN etc, audio from NPR, and add-ons like NYT if they require more $$$ -- much like adding channels to Amazon Prime Video. If i could get all the news in one app on my ipad it might be worth paying for.

I initially subscribed as it included The Times newspaper in the UK. That, plus about 3 or 4 magazines made it a bargain.

But... I cancelled it.

For some reason you don’t get the full content of The Times. Articles on their own website were not in News+. Somedays the Business section had about 4 or 5 stories on News+ yet when I got a newspaper there was a ton more content (replicated on their own website but not served up through News+)

So why should I pay ??

if it had been full content like the magazines I would have kept my news+ sub

What a silly statement. Apple sends email before the end of the trial period as reminders...
This trial is to get people interested in the service. Nothing else.

I’m sure I would love the many magazines during the 3 months free, but not to the point of paying $12.99/mo.

They need to bundle this with Music or AppleTV+ In order to make it feasible.
The bundle would hardly cover the costs...

Again this non sense, because, you know, it’s Apple and it is cool to put them under a negative light...
Apple send you an email before the trial period ends.
You can’t forget.

That is diabolical!

It's such a deep and complex marketing strategy that I'm not sure anyone could have figured it out. Thanx for the heads up!

It's a nope for me for AppleNews+. My wallet is suffering from subscription fatigue. In the past month, I cancelled AppleTV+ and Apple Music.

$4 per month, $6 per month, $8 per month, etc can drain a wallet quicker without notice than a $200 monthly cable bill.

In April, Business Insider reported the forgotten subscriptions can add up to $1100 per year.

At $4/mo it would take 50 subscriptions to drain a wallet like a $200/mo cable bill. 33 subscriptions for $6/mo and 25 subscriptions for $8/mo. But thanks for the hyperbole.

These are just examples. To eliminate the hyperbole... Actual examples: YouTube TV and Hulu+Live TV is $44.99 each per month. AT&T Now (formally DirecTV Now) monthly subscription ranges from $50 per month to $135 per month.

Bottom Line...Subscriptions are not getting cheaper; their prices are increasing. Not hyperbole. Actual sources listed below. These aren't Wikipedia sources since those sources aren't legitimate sources.
