To state the obvious; that’s only because of the interests and vision of the companies involved. While running the risk of sounding like a crazy old man drinking moonshine on his porch, i'll say it anyway.
Nothing good is going to come from this here Metaverse.
I agree, but the tech seems very embedded.or how about interacting with people without tech is a better life target. Why you need Apple or anyone else for that is beyond me. It is obvious people are addicted to their tech device of choice, Apple even started monitoring it for you and gives you stats weekly. I doubt anyone really cares how many hours are spent behind the screen staring blankly at a social media account, scrolling through posts and pictures while feeling like you are connecting with other people.
Thank god it's free, else they might never be able to join. The forum is open to any organization at no cost, so Apple and others could join in the future.
I still don’t get what that even means. I understand my elderly parents now. Without knowing, you are suddenly out of the loop with technology 😅
I guess it’s like putting on a helmet and then u walk around in a virtual reality. Sort of like instead of sending „text bubbles“ to other people, it’s going to be „face to face“? Is the technology even there yet? I expect it to look like those badly rendered Memojis or whatever on Nintendo Switch Online.
I would be interested once those virtual settings look as pretty as a Pixar movie. Imagine visiting the place of „Luca“ or Pandora of Avatar. Not Super Mario World N64
The Technology is there. Try a Meta / Oculus Quest... and that's not even state of the art now. Some of the Games and experiences are incredible.
When we can hit 4K an eye and they can make the eye FOV as close to red life ( still missing the outer edges of the view ) and the computing power to render more realistic worlds we are there.
Who in their right mind would allow anyone other than Apple and least of all FB control their alternate reality security and privacy?
Oh it is, does not mean you just go along with it. I use tech to make a living, work in print and design so spend all day with Adobe. I like tech, but I have started pulling back as I evaluate what it is actually bringing to my life. I have found that the positives are not out weighing the negatives. I have never been into social media, no facebook, twitter, Instagram and whatever else is out there. At some point I plan on moving to a "dumb" phone, something bare bones that can make calls and send text messages only. Same goes for my watch, I have an Apple watch, when it goes, and it will, I will replace with a normal watch that I will never have to worry about replacing the battery in or if it is running slow because a software update screwed something up, or even that it is not longer able to get updates. Tech is a big marketing machine, they know it makes money and they know how to milk it. Apple is the best at this, you can see that by the crazy prices for watch bands, keychain cases for tracking tags and microfibre clothes.I agree, but the tech seems very embedded.
3D television -- it's gonna be big, but Apple is noticeably missing from the list of members.Apple is noticeably missing from the list of members
start? Quest 2 has been selling very well for a while now and outsold Playstation and Xbox last year. The Oculus Quest has been banned from being sold in Germany apparently. Great start LOL
You trust Apple? Why you would trust any tech company or any company in any sector is beyond me. Apple and the rest are in it for money, they will and do harvest your data to make even more money. They may use the info differently but they are all doing the same thing. Apple just wants to be in control of it al.Who in their right mind would allow anyone other than Apple and least of all FB control their alternate reality security and privacy?
