Was Rolex ever a popular brand among teens before? 😳

I'm surprised to see Apple Watch on TV frequently. Almost all US women athletes I saw in Tokyo Olympic wore one. Watching Gabby Petito case recently, not only she wore one but almost all news reporters who's women wearing one no matter the station.

Wait. Why grey market?

Wouldn't you want things as legit as possible with something like a Rolex? Don't you get a certificate with your serial registered in the Rolex system?

I'd be afraid I'd get a counterfeit or something. If I'm paying five or six figures for a watch, I'd make damn sure things are done by the book.

It has become increasingly difficult over the past few years to purchase popular Rolex models direct from authorized dealers. Very simple case of ever rising demand and extreme supply constraints.

It’s now very similar to the way Ferrari operates — if you walk into a boutique cold and say that you want to buy the brand new V12 model, they’ll politely suggest that you consider a pre-owned V8 or whatever to “start the relationship”. (Unless you’re connected, of course.)

There are plenty of reputable grey dealers so fakes aren’t really a big problem IMO as long as you stick to solid outlets — the main benefit to buying direct from an AD nowadays is getting the watch at MSRP. Grey market prices are inevitably higher. Depending on the model, MUCH higher (see: Steel Daytona).

FWIW there are only a handful of Rolex models that will go into 6 figures. If that’s what you’re buying, then yeah, a buttload of due diligence would be required!

When I was a teen, I made more than most other teens because I worked as tech support. I saved all my money and bought a Rolex cause that's just how I role

but it's not amusing to you that people in all these articles are triggered by what the articles are about? not necessarily the same people, but still. every article title is a trigger for a different group of people...

You make a good point I think.

it’s Triggers, all the way down (that’s holding up the internet social media downfall of society perhaps)

Ah, to be an upper income teen. That’s the life right there!
“Muffy, would you like Daddy to buy you the Rolex or that gold plated Apple Watch?”

“Whatever Daddy. Just go away! You’re embarrassing me in front of my friends!”

“Sorry, Pumpkin. The Apple Watch it is, then.”

This is the dumbest survey ever.

I own a number of automatic mechanical watches, but I also own an Apple watch. In my day-to-day use, I use my Apple watch to track all the stuff it does, but for evenings, formal events, and more, I use my mechanical watches.

It's comparing apples and oranges (excuse the pun).

And since when did a teen ever own a Rolex unless you are the child of a multi-millionaire????

all i can say — if all the "fights" we get into on social media(this site included) were physical, by the way we'd sit down at work — we'd be missing sleeves and teeth :)

Yep, except in person, people are more reserved maybe and using more of their senses to decide on things. More tolerant.

I mention it now, perhaps because of the Facebook recent evil plot reveal, Zuckerberg shutting down his whole system - maybe so he could log in and do some file cleaning and deleting to hide evidence of his “society control” experiments.

The headline juxtaposing teens with Rolexes and Apple Watches makes the needle jump on someone’s data screen. If you want “engagement”, triggering the subconscious reptilian brain has been shown to work.

CTV (Canada) showed two TV commercials during a kids Lego Movie broadcast - “Drag Queen game show coming in October” and right after that “Nerf 2.0 toy battle guns” - my 6 year old was wondering about the ugly ladies, but really wanted me to rewind to see the Nerf Guns advert again. I was like “huh?” - and it angered me that it’s now perfectly ok for Canadian broadcasters to allow commercials like this.

Information is the ammunition - our brains are the target.

I find it interesting that you think Apple people would be trump supporters. Certainly not me …
I am gay, democratic socialist, classical violist, degree in math, restaurant owner and hell no not a trump or desantis supporter... besides I didn't say that I just said where I live most people are trump supporters and the kids that work for me, their parents are trump supporters. My county went 60/40 for trump :(

Ah, sorry for the misinterpretation. I read your comment twice and didn't, for some reason, get that from it. My bad.
