Is there ever any substance to replies here? Everyone is just responding with sarcastic nonsense. What on earth is the point responding at all?

By way of supply, it is somewhat peculiar that something like this can be produced to meet demand, yet Airpods (which I still almost never see anywhere out and about) are completely sold out and have been for a year now.... now obviously production is vastly different for these two things, but it still makes one wonder.

Your situations are less practical than the ones I posted. but hey nice try.
Agree to disagree. Touch ID is a nightmare when working out. I’d assume a fair bit of people use their phone in the gym. People who do manual labor for a living also have trouble. Calloused hands and worn fingertips. My mom fits that bill. She literally can’t reliably use Touch ID. I’ve even tried to aid in setup.

Here in the northeast with gloves in hands for at least three months out of the year (but as much as six months lol), not having to authenticate with a fingerprint is also a boon. I’m currently visiting family in Southern California. It’s 78 degrees here. I can see why people here wouldn’t even consider that. Not a criticism, just an observation.

This isn’t me singing nothing but praise for faceid. There are definitely issues, as you’ve already mentioned. For my usage I think I slightly prefer faceid. But neither is flawless and both are plenty usable

I went in to Apple this weekend ready to buy a 64 X. Something about it didnt feel right. It didnt seem familiar, it felt fragile, finicky and I really dont like the absence of a home button. Now I'm on the fence about picking up an iP8+ or just holding on to my 6s+ and seeing how these phones mature.

I see others are just gushing over the X, so I'm probably an anomaly. But the iphone X felt like a Samsung.

Maybe I'll get inspired later in the year. But I've never walked in to an Apple store to use a new product and felt disappointed. Maybe it's the price and hype setting expectations high.

Waiting for gen 2 with improve ram, hoping for Faceid 2 and longer battery life

I'm waiting for the substantially full-screen LCD model for $700. I know there will have to be a bezel for the backlight, but hopefully they can keep it to around the same height as the iPhone X notch. Apple needs something good in the $600 - $750 price range and the iPhone 8 just isn't going to cut it.

I don't think we're getting the complete story. What happened to "inventory will be constrained well into 2018" hype?
I don’t know what happened to it, but no one has said that for at least a month. It’s not as if it suddenly went away today.

This is almost never good news. This could be apple’s Wii U, just on a larger scale. There is simply no demand outside of the impulse buying and ‘got to have it first’ crowd.

I suspect sales for the iPhone X are doing just fine and though Apple may not experience what some analysts would call a "super cycle" (not sure everyone agrees what that would mean) what Apple is aiming for is to hit their projection of $84-$87 billion, which would be pretty super.

I, too, love my iPhone X. Face ID for me is by far more reliable and handy. Living in a semi-arid climate I can tell you that Touch ID not only fails if your hands are wet but also fails if it is so dry your fingerprints are obscured by dry skin, etc. Certainly the number of cases where Face ID fails for me are far less than when Touch ID would fail for me (albeit coming from an iPhone 5s). Overall the iPhone X experience has exceeded my expectations, and I think it is for the majority of users, which is why I believe sales will not only be good this quarter but also next quarter as real-world word-of-mouth spreads.

I second. I am in the same boat as you are.

The iPhone X purchase changed my life, for the first time I felt like a man, felt like I had a purpose... first time I felt truly alive

You might be more careful with your use of the word everyone. Some of us do respond with substantial comments. They are are mainly ignored.

This has been my experience thus far too. I've been into the apple store ~ 4x since the X has been on display and I realized every single time I go, I look at everything besides the X. Its just not that impressive to me.

The first time I went I looked at for all of 5 mins and noticed the missing home button and smaller size. That's it. Camera looks the same to me besides the portrait modes, and screen looks exactly the same to me. Its just simply not worth the price.

You realize that was a really bad response right? You basically said, yeah I use my iPad in place of everything my phone does so I don’t experience those problems.

It was not a bad response, it was the correct response, one you seem not to really grasp the gist of because maybe? you are stuck in your own use scenario bubble?

My response was basically: everyone uses there phone different so if Face ID doesn't work great for the way you use your phone fair enough. But that doesn't mean Face ID doesn't work just fine for the ways others use their phone. It's different strokes for different folks, not one use fits all, and certainly not your use is the best use.

The ironic thing here is your response here is a "really bad response."

As far as I am aware, you have always been able to walk into a store just before Christmas and pick one up. In fact the X is probably worse than previous years in that it has taken Apple this long to get the supply levels up.
They also started selling it later than the usual release date. So that's another side to consider too.

Got my X yesterday. Without doubt the best iPhone I've ever used. It's so intuitive - I simply can't imagine going back to the home button or Touch ID. The technology melts into the background and I've mostly forgotten about Face ID as it does it automatically and there's no deliberate "action" to unlock it. I now can't see myself using an iPhone any other way.

I haven't had such a smooth user experience since I bought my very first iPhone (iPhone 4). That was so ahead of everything else on the market at the time and I feel much the same here. Wonderful job.

That was hilarious. Thanks!

I'm perfectly happy with my 7, but I'd definitely upgrade once I see similar deals to last year's Black Friday. The trade your 6s in for a 7 for a $650 credit over the next 2 years. It was a verizon deal (and a few others). In the meantime, I like paying $4/mo for the phone. :)

I wonder if they waited to stockpile all the returned iPhone X's of Nov, pamper them up to sell them as new? If so, you are actually going to get a used iPhone X ;)

Karl Ackerman is an analyst with the Wall Street securities house of Cowen & Co. Ackerman has penned a note to clients that says initial demand for the Apple iPhone X "has been below initial expectations as users appear to have gravitated toward the previous iPhone models." The analyst adds that all three 2017 iPhone models, which include the Apple iPhone 8, Apple iPhone 8 Plus and Apple iPhone X are selling at a decent clip, but sales are not strong enough to say that Apple is in the midst of a supercycle.

I kind of hope this is true, just so Apple thinks better next time before they slap a 1200€ price on a god damn iphone.
$1414.56 USD... ouch! Does that include VAT? I need to save up for a replacement vehicle, which I anticipate my current one will last another year, so I'm trying to keep the purchases well below that (even when you add them all together). I'm just glad I can still get smartphones in the $200 to $400 range.

What I love the most is when I go to a web site and Face ID takes over and logs me in without me having to do anything. It's magic.

I don't really understand this. I have an X and an 8. My 8 prefills passcodes on websites already without me having to do anything. Face ID does this as well, it just takes a second or two longer. What am I missing?

Waiting for gen 2 with improve ram, hoping for Faceid 2 and longer battery life

Those are all natural things that Apple would upgrade anyways. The ram, Face ID and battery improvements are usually expectations every year for the iPhone. So that's almost a guarantee that will be improved, with the exception of 4 GB of RAM likely for the 6.5 iPhone X.
