This doesn't change my decision to wait for the next redesign or purchase a used 2015. I'm limping along with a 2011 MBP that still runs great.
Echo chamber, sample bias, etc.How does that account for the number of people posting on this forum and on social media (such as Twitter) with keyboard issues? I wish I could feel confident in buying a new Mac. If it wasn’t for the keyboard issues I’d be buying a new Air.

You won't get this level of customer care from a Samsung, Dell or HP.
I'm just hoping their answer isn't a further extreme, with stationary keys that provide haptic feedback, in place of actual travel.

This has all the marking of a self perpetuating myth. People just "know it's true" even if the data doesn't support it.
It's possible the data I'm finding doesn't capture the actual problem, but it's the only non-anecdotal data I've been able to find.
On the upside... they've made these things so hard to repair that my single sticky key became a new top case with a battery, heh.

Really? That’s why the kept the deffective mechanism three generations in a row, because they put customers first? This is why I love Apple.

I love my 2015 keyboard....problem is, next year it might be classified as "vintage"
Didn't that have similar problems?Just go back to the scissor mechanism. Please stop doubling down on what was an obvious and serious mistake.
That'd be a valid option IF the 2018 keyboards weren't prone to the same issues. I had my top case replaced already (15" 2018), so not sure upgrading makes any sense in that regard. Maybe the issues aren't that widespread with the membrane, but I feel like it's no dust but more of a mechanical issue so not sure it helps.

You can never be certain that any device will not fail, but at least with Apple, their service is the best of all the computer manufacturers. How does that account for the number of people posting on this forum and on social media (such as Twitter) with keyboard issues? They were still producing mid-2015s into 2018. Isn't the vintage classification based on when production stops, rather than the model year?
The 2015 model doesn't provide the other hardware requirements, such as 32GB RAM or updated CPU. I actually like my 2018, just very specifically minus the keyboard. Using an external keyboard mitigates that issue.
