A Thunderbolt 3/4 port should serve the purpose of mirroring a Mac display at full resolution up to 4k 120hz 4:4:4. However, Apple stays away from this straight road but sells a $300 strap. How greedy Apple is.Loading over large assets multiple times is much faster over a wire than over WiFi. I think this is also capable of allow the Mac to capture a mirror of the vision display using MV-HEVC at full resolution.
Luckily, the AVP can't really accurately render a 4K 120Hz floating screen anyway?A Thunderbolt 3/4 port should serve the purpose of mirroring a Mac display at full resolution up to 4k 120hz 4:4:4. However, Apple stays away from this straight road but sells a $300 strap. How greedy Apple is.
I am wondering how this works for developers who flew in specifically to purchase the Vision Pro. Do they have to make another trip just for this dongle?![]()
And unbearably slow for larger projects. As an iOS developer, I think this is a ridiculous price.Wireless debugging is free.
This is called capitalism and Apple mastered the skills of earning money in perfection. So, you want to blame them for playing the game good? Or do you want to play the blame game because you can't take responsibility for your consumption? Nobody is forced to buy their products or develop Software for the Apple Vision Pro. This isn't about defending anyone, this is about taking your own responsibility. Be happy that you live in a country where you can make your own decisions. The people doing mental gymnastics to defend Apple at every turn is pretty weird. They’re greedy. It’s as simple as that. Apple only cares about money, and they will nickel-and-dime you to death if you let them. They could be still wildly successful and popular with lower prices. They have decided that they want ALL the money instead of just some of it.
It's unlikely most developers would need it. The higher price also potentially puts up a barrier to people who might be tempted to buy it without understanding what it's for.
Correct, although wireless debugging is horrendously slow in my experience with the 15 Pro so this should have been included or much cheaper.I would expect/hope that developers don't need the dongle?
I'm sure it can be developed for over wifi, but will be faster via the dongle?
But Apple really wants developers to develop for the platform so this a very shortsighted decision. Most developers would definitely need this for the speed benefits when debugging issues, trust me.How much cheaper? What does this cost Apple to design, have manufactured, and to support?
It's a specialized tool with a most likely small demand (not just because of the cost), which means Apple has little incentive to charge less for it: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...nostics-mode-revealed-in-more-detail.2418210/

And the AppleCare, especially if you’re a dev.Considering there isn’t a rush by the developer community to make apps for Vision Pro $300 seems steep. Especially for small studios / indie app developers who have to buy a headset for $3599, pay the $99 annual dev fee plus and own an expensive dev Mac that they own.
They have analysts which research into finding the red line, and probing itOnly Apple would charge $300 for a usb connection. How do they come up with these prices ?
This post on every single Apple product released ever. If not this then "should have given us the upgrade above for the same price"Should be cheaper
