MagSafe is dumb.

$40 to keep your $40 charging puck from dropping off your phone and dinging your tabletop

“Wireless charging” that takes two hands to detach.🤡

All of the actually useful applications are not fully supported by Apple.

I use a $20 stand that has a heavy base that sticks to the desk and only requires on hand to detach. I love it. So easy to just quickly set your phone down on it. Plus I use a lightning port dust plug, so that would be a pain to remove and keep track of every time I need to charge.

Not sure why people can't just let others be happy with a product instead of trashing it and acting like people are stupid for not being the same as you. No one's forcing you to use it.

it might be just me, but all these wireless charging stations just don't hold any appeal. gotta plug that in anyway...why not just use a normal plug in and cord?

The answer is pretty obvious, isn't it? You plug the "wireless charging station" in ONCE. If you charge wired, then you have to plug/unplug every time you charge.

Enjoy it every day you own it my friend!🤠

Do not let my reasonable critique ruin your beautiful day! 🌞🌞🌞🌸🌸🌺🌺🌹💐🦭

But you paid $20 for a weight for a “wireless” wire. This makes me chuckle.

Lightning ports don’t need dust plugs. Your pocket simply needs to be cleaner.

My critique of MagSafe is valid. How does it affect your enjoyment of it?

And your reply was? Get out of here. Go ahead and report me, but it needed to be said, so I don't care.

“ Enjoy it every day you own it my friend!🤠”

This was genuine sentiment.🐼

My (valid) opinion should have no rational bearing on your enjoyment of MagSafe.

maybe just take this to PM? I am certain we can find a resolution to your misunderstanding.

No it wasn't genuine. Your entire post was dripping with sarcasm, which is quite obvious to anyone. So is this one. All I'm saying is there's no need to mock and berate other people for finding value in something you don't. It's one thing to criticize a product in a constructive way; it's quite another to trash it and then critique or sarcastically mock people because they use the product or because they posted a counter-opinion to yours. Your opinion has no effect at all on my enjoyment of the product. Don't give yourself that much credit.

"But you paid $20 for a weight for a 'wireless' wire. This makes me chuckle."

"Lightning ports don’t need dust plugs. Your pocket simply needs to be cleaner."

And it's not just me.

And just the fact that you're calling MagSafe "dumb", which implies that anyone who buys one must also be dumb (because, after all, what type of person would buy a "dumb" product, right?).

If you really want to discuss this via PM, then go ahead and send me one. I don't care either way, and am done with this conversation and thread before I say something I'll regret. I have little patience for this kind of game you're playing.

👋

I really don’t see how you are drawing those conclusions. They are not at all logical. Very perplexed this evening.

My “chuckle” was not because of you or your purchase. It was because the product referenced actually exists. A clean pocket was merely a suggestion (and quite effective in my own personal experience for lighting port longevity!). MagSafe being a letdown doesn’t make YOU “dumb”. Please be sure that you have never criticized products that I own if you mean to continue this as your rmeasure. (Not that it would bother me in the least)

But yeah, inbox is open. I will remain cordial and positive even though you continue to attack me. But I will not change my opinion because it is misinterpreted to be a directed attack on someone whom I never knew existed.

so shortly before the iPhone13 I wouldn't look at that.
They might revamp the Mag-Safe - at least currently it
is really not providing enough value to be useful.

You know what's convenient for travel? A lightning cable
Same thought.

I have the MagSafe charger which I find very useful (easier to use while in bed). But for travelling purposes, I much prefer lightning cable. For one, it charges faster. It also is more compact!

The fewer unnecessary accessories for travelling, the better.

...I can't imagine anyone credibly claiming placing their phone on a wireless charging station is so much less time consuming that it's life changing. really, it's nothing more than a toy, a shiny new object filling a hole in our consumerist based society and culture.

throw the $40 away, add extra clutter to our lives, have to pack another big something when going to work (or buying another for at work since it saves so much time), whatever.

like I said, not for me. I'm happier with the money in my pocket and the extra .03 seconds it takes to plug my phone in.

I don't recall saying it was "so much less" time consuming or "life changing" 🤷‍♂️ But it's the little things in life that are often very satisfying. Definitely not a toy. Don't be silly. If you don't want it, no one's holding a gun to your head. Not everyone has to do exactly like you do in order to meet your approval. Shocker, I know.

So the one thing that I do find most useful about Magsafe charger is that I can have the wire directed at almost any direction I want (within a flat plane surface, of course).

For example, because of where I’m on the side of the bed, when I’m using my iPhone lying down, I can rotate the MagSafe charger so that the wire is pointing to the left where the outlet is. This is when using the iPhone on landscape mode watching videos, for example.

But with the Lightning cable, my cable would be jutting out from the right side and then looping over since the outlet is on the left. That creates not only tension for the wire, but it’s not comfortable for me to hold.

That probably is the biggest advantage for MagSafe charger in the way I use it. But I don’t carry it with me for travelling. For that, the more compact Lightning cable is preferable for me.
