M2 Pro in the UK store (there's 18 M2 variations there), if it's not your side shouldn't be too much longer.
Ah, interesting. I'll keep checking the Canadian store... We often get scraps compared to the US refurb stock, or in case of refurb iPhones it's all maxed out 512GB/1TB versions that nobody buys lol.

The price is not bad if one is in the market for this product.

I find it odd that the mini released this year is cheaper than the AirPod Max released TWO years ago.

I would be surprised. Especially since the video RAM comes out of that 8GB as well.
Well, you don’t need video ram to run a daw session, and logic is very light on ram usage, I couldn’t even get the memory pressure into yellow without opening a dozen youtube tabs at the same time

But plenty of youtubers demonstrated that the base model 8g ram m1s can even edit 4k video in final cut pro no problem

Probably several people on this forum who are Tim Cook apologists who think he can do nothing wrong and always find reasons to try and justify his extortionately high prices.

Yeah, because 99% of the people should be fine to pay $200 for upgrading from 8 GB to 16 GB or from 256 GB to 512 GB.

Yeah, my PC pretty much uses all the time 32 GB or my 64 GB, so I would like to see apple's magic to reduce the ram in a tiny 8 GB.

Tempting, but no way I'm buying a machine with 8GB of memory! What's that good for running? The Stickies app? 😅
Most apps, but mainly one or two at a time. It’s not a developer’s box but good for your basic browsing, word processing, spreadsheets, photo management, and playing music. The kind of basic things that a lot of people do and who don’t want to spend extra on it.

Just barely related, but I wish I could buy this (or any) mini and use it with my 2009 27" iMac in target display mode.
But, you can!

You can use any device (not just Macs, but just about any device of any brand) that is capable of DP out and use Target Display mode with the Late 2009-Mid 2010 27" iMacs.

It is the Thunderbolt Macs that will not work with the M1 and up Macs, as they will only work as displays for Intel Macs with Thunderbolt via Target Display mode.

I remember all the PCs with 8GB of RAM in 2004.
And base models of PCs still have 8GB of RAM. It’s true that the upgrade prices to 16GB RAM are not as expensive but that is how Apple rolls. Doesn’t mean that 8GB doesn’t work for a lot of people who are looking for something at a price point.

No one needs to apologize for Tim Cook's performance. Starting ~1998 Cook was a large part behind building Apple into the world's premier tech firm, arguably the most successful firm in the world.

Folks who want lesser, cheaper products can go elsewhere.

Apple's OS magic does exactly that. It ain't pretty and I do not recommend it (just put 96 GB in a new MBP), but the Mac OS does a great job of managing with inadequate RAM.

I have a 2019 27“ iMac and it feels like an entirely new way of working. The swap file is of course ridiculously small (about 300 MB) since all the used memory can stay in the RAM. That also means less writing on the SSD and longer longevity. Also less performance demands because less rewriting is needed.
Doing some light developing and medium browsing, my RAM is usually at around 28-34 GB of usage.

In the light of this, 64 GB would already have bren enough, but I will do some more demanding programming in the coming months so I am happy I maxed it out. I bought a 128 GB set from OWC I believe which was tagged at around 200-300 €, which was fair. I would have had to pay over 1000 for half of that from Apple just so I didn‘t have to open the hatch.
