Apple this evening began offering refurbished versions of the 24-inch M1 iMac in its U.S. online store, one day after starting to sell refurbished M1 iMacs in the UK.

Apple has over a dozen M1 iMacs available at the current time, and this is the first time the M1 iMacs have been available through the refurbished store in the U.S. since the machines launched in April.

The entry-level model with 8-core GPU, 7-core GPU, and 256GB SSD is available for $1,099, which is a $200 discount from the regular price of $1,299.

Apple also has higher-end refurbished models available for purchase, up to an 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU option with a 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM, which is available for $1,779. At full price, the machine would cost $2,099.

There are multiple color options and configurations available at the current time, though stock will fluctuate going forward based on the machines that people are sending Apple for repairs and returns.

Apple's refurbished M1 iMacs are sold with the same one-year warranty offered with a new iMac, plus they come with all manuals and accessories. Apple uses a rigorous testing, repair, repackaging, and cleaning process to ensure refurbished devices are identical to new devices.

Thanks macrumor, I made my account to thank you. I have been browsing this site for awhile and saw this and jumped on it.

Got silver, 1tb ssd, 16gb ram, for $1601. thumbs up! there was blue and silver loaded ones. I would of snagged a 2tb but there wasn't one. I bought a 256gb 8gb from costco for like 1400 a month or two ago and returned it, I loved it but needed more room.

I originally bought blue, I liked it, but didn't love it. Really excited for this. Dang, I need to find where they have the "trackpad" on apple site now. cannot locate it.

Edit. I dont see the silver 16gb ram 1tb ssd anymore. Must be gone.

I bought one of the blue ones, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD. It was crazy fast, could even do some casual gaming in Steam on it, even with the Rosetta2 layer needing to be engaged.

I returned it, for reasons completely unrelated to its performance. But they are excellent computers.

want one. got too much apple credit.

do i need one? not sure. I've been fine with my old pc for 6+ months now.

i tried the M1 Mac Mini a few times but... I don't know. I felt my 8 yr old i7, 16gb ram, old Samsung ssd was snappier for basic use. I actually was my gaming pc too until I sold my gpu to miners.

...I always had a Mac before for personal stuff. But now not sure if I really need one.

I could probably just do an ipad for that.

Still on the fence i guess as to what to get in the Apple store. /dear diary

Either way manufacturer repaired, tested, and honestly great value for the performance and design for most.

could be a sign for another refresh of, fingers crossed, an iMac Pro ? If that happens then an Apple Silicon replacement for the Mac Pro big dawg is going to have the industry and fans alike salivating.

if Apple can deliver a Mac Pro with great expansion and purchase sku options but over 2-5x performance of any Windows (AMD/Intel) top end desktop machine - with internal on SoC and external eGPU / dedicated video card performance … its over.

Ok that was an easy sale for me. Goodbye iMac 2013.

It's also available in Canada BTW.
That’s correct, was just checking exactly that. I think the refurbished pool is shared between the US and Canada… many things I have bought refurbished either for me in Canada or family members in the US tend to be 1:1 on inventor available.
Also, if you have any student family member or no “remorse” exploit the system, it is like $20 cheaper in the student way.

However, refurbished has a benefit over BTO (student or not) since custom builds can take sometimes months to get it shipped, while the refurbished ones can be as a quick as a couple of days later… I have been surprised to have a delivery estimate of a week to then have it in two days.

Good God.... The fact that I have to dig through each unit to see how much ram and storage it has, vs reflecting it in the heading / in the available unit list is ridiculous. I was like hey, this 8-core 8-gpu is a great deal....it took me a while to figure out I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole due to its ridiculously low 8GB of ram.

How hard is it to put 8-Core/8-GPU/8GB/512GB in the heading.. unless you want to trick people into buying something in an impulse buy

I’ll never understand this either. For those with specific GPUs it doesn’t say sometimes either I think.

Maybe some psychological warfare or study that says “when people click to check makes them more likely to buy”?

I'd just go get a PC before Apple starts scanning the contents of all our files
So that Microsoft can scan your files on the PC. It's in Microsoft Windows EULA they do scan your hard drive.

I am gonna turn off iCloud Photos on macOS.

Linux does not have all the apps I need nor user friendly.

Some people prefer macOS and nothing wrong with that.

Obviously there are enough people returning the M1 iMacs. Likely some of them don’t like it, which means, the M1 iMacs are not as perfect as the buzzing.
