This. There are people that abuse the return policy habitually. Either be it “YouTubers” that review stuff (with 300 subs) or people that just like to test new stuff with no intention to keep it. Kinda crappy. But I guess Apple is big enough to absorb it. Personally I never buy anything with the intent to just return it.

We used to get sent Macs and certain other developers/influencers did. We kept the boxes and units were then returned after sometimes just 24 hours for assessment, other times a week to assess everything including network etc. etc.

When they went back they didn't go straight out, they still went through vigorous checking/refurbishment, and the resultant devices in my opinion were a really good buy, having had the second round of quality control which would pick up on anything.

I have to give Apple credit for their refurbs. They are effectively new.

haven't used my iMac as much as I would like. Still rocking the MBP 2019. Can't wait for new MBP M1X

Refurbished already? It was just released not even 6 months ago. Wasn’t this reported yesterday?
Yeah, it's really surprising that Apple's hundreds of millions of customers have already returned enough iMacs after 6 months of the computer being out for them to sell a handful of refurb units. Good point.

Someone (you?) should start a blog analyzing whether MacRumors double-reports on the same issue. It could list if an article is similar to previous articles, by how much (25%? 100%?), and based on what evidence. I'm sure a lot of people will be interested in reading about that and truly discussing it, rather than just questioning it in every post's thread here.

I got one of these machines about a month ago and I’m really loving it.

Admittedly, the step down from 27” felt a little bit cramped at first but I’ve gotten used to it for sure. We run multiple users on the same family machine, and I’m finding touch ID is massively helpful with that. The only time I’ve seen any kind of hiccup is when I was copying a couple terabytes of files from one external drive to another. The Logitech mouse I have started skipping around the screen which was weird. Could be something with a Logitech driver though. Other than that brief glitch, it’s been absolutely smooth as silk.

Despite people (99% of whom I’m sure do not own this computer) bitching about the white bezels, they look quite neutral in person and fade away completely when you’re looking at what’s on the screen instead fixating on them.

Is it possible to trade-in an apple keyboard for a different one on these refurbs? I want the touch ID with number pad, but of course none of these refurbs have that keyboard.

If I believed everything I read on MacRumors I would assume nothing that Apple sells is successful.

If you follow Apple's Mac refurb cycle, it's typically 3 months after the product starts shipping. For this iMac preorders began on April 30 and they started shipping around mid-May, so the refurb availability is right on time. No surprises at all.

Dang, they went fast. All that's left is a pink basic model. Yesterday they had the 8CPU/8GPU and 16gb ram available but I didn't move fast enough. Anyone notice how often they've added stock? (Needless to say I added an alert in hopes I can snag one)

they restocked last night at 10pm, and this morning again. I checked back few hours later, and was just 2 base model colors.

they are certainly steadily adding them, they must. have a warehouse full of em
