Oh Sorry, I should have explained that better. I don't mean I sit in my car and instead of hitting the car's start button, I have to open an app on the watch...I mean I can start the car "remotely". I can be inside a store for instance, and start my car from inside the store, or theater or whatever. It's called Remote Start.

Doesn't this work from your cell phone, as well? My Chevrolet has an app where I can start it from my cell phone.

It also thought the same about the watch until I starting asking people what they liked about it. Many said the same thing, it’s amazing for notifications and weather. They weren’t wrong.

The AW series 3 is now my favorite Apple device ever (I’ve been using their products since I owned the much loved 12” PowerBook). It makes all day digital interactions frictionless. You don’t realize how often you pull out your phone until you don’t have to anymore. It’s awesome and well worth the asking price. At a discount it’s a no brainer.

I'm in when part of the refurbishment process means scrubbing off that hideous red dot...

Yes it does. It's just easier on the watch since I don't have to dig anything out. Either way, it's just a great feature.

Thanks to this post, I went ahead and bought a refurbished 42mm one. I think saving $50 is just the incentive I needed to get one. I've gotten a refurbished MacBook Pro years ago and it lasted forever. I think this is better than buying a new Mac product off eBay to save money. Can't wait!

Sometimes I believe Apple Refurbished can sometimes be just normal returns that went through the Apple inspection process. Like if you returned a watch today during the trial period to the Apple Store, where does it go? Obviously they don't sell opened box goods there.

Likely here they can just reset the watch, clean it, and (maybe) provide a new band to sell.

Some say it's better than "new" because you know someone from Apple approved it worthy for resale versus out of the packaging from China.

I'm still on the fence with the Apple Watch. As much as I complain about Jony Ive's obsession with thinness, I do think the AW could stand to be about 2/3 the thickness it is now. Probably not possible, but something around 7.5mm like the iPhone 4 would be nice.

Damn I just bought a series 3 5 days ago lol. Oh well I wanted the white nike+ band anyways.

Is there a 2 week return period on watches?

My problem right there. The only 2 things that attract me about it are: Fitness, and sleep tracking.. Problem is, I can't workout wearing a watch, and could never fall asleep wearing a watch :(

You might try it. I was thought the same thing. Now I wear a fitbit 24/7. The only time I take it off is to shower, because the model I have is not waterproof. It is great to be able see my resting heart rate go down month after month and my daily step count go up and up.

Wow.. 2nd-hand watches

Depending on the face you choose. Some them don't have hour and minute hands, much less a second hand.;)

You obviously haven’t bought Apple refurbs in your life. I do not buy refurbished products other than from Apple. They are good (or better) than brand new units without the fancy packaging and I never had problems with them. You can’t beat the money savings too.

This. I would only buy refurbs from Apple if I could help it. For the same money as a new device, you can get a slightly upgraded device. Or, you can get a device with the same specs for a lower price. Apple refurbs undergo a thorough inspection and receive new batteries and new casings. Most of mine came in the same retail packaging as a brand new device and the device itself always feels like a brand new one. Oh and they come with the same warrantee as a brand new one.

The Apple Watch does have a 14 day return policy.

If you get the sport loop band, it is so comfortable you forget the watch is on your wrist.

Some people will never buy second hand stuff.

Whether it’s perception, fear of cooties, or believe it’s sub standard.

Just remember the next time you’re with your partner. You’re likely not the first person he or she has ever kissed. :D

Should I get one to see what the big deal is about? I just find them totally uninteresting, not useful (my phone is always with me), and just one more thing to re-charge

Seems like many of us here either are ganging up on or recommending Apple Watch to WannaGoMac.

WannaGoMac, don't fret neither is the case.

My personal uses for the Watch:
Fitness tracking (Weight Training).
Heart health monitoring
- I had a heart/growth murmur at 12/13yrs old. Not a big deal grew out of it. I've always been into fitness and outside of 14yrs of 43yrs old, always been into sports. At age 18 I noticed working out I not only could hear my own heart beat but also feel in not just in my chest yet in my next (jugglar) and during hyper ventilation inhaling I'd be deaf momentarily. Lately I've noticed a VERY high possibility of AFib atrial fibrillation (AFib). This is NOT something you can feel or notice on your own until it gets VERY bad. My mother survived a stroke, as well as one of the younger uncles (Dad's side).
- Time / Date
- Sleep tracking (I'm in insomniac).
- ApplePay,
- Music control and playback during working out (MUCH easier than keeping iPhone in my pocket, safe from weight drops on the phone)
- Workout tracking (much better than paper and quicker to add sets, adjust weights/reps).
- Music control and messaging when on public transit as it's super packed at times. During work this is also beneficial for work related quick email and sms glances if I want to be discrete or at a quick glance in a meeting. (An executive tipped me off to this in 2016 and I was most impressed).

for your personal use cases ... think of a smartphone in more minute use cases.

I’d be interested in a black Nike Plus GPS only or a black DLC Stainless in 42mm to replace my original stainless. Saving $50 would be nice.
