Personally I'd just buy brand new One I don't trust refurbished.
You can trust refurbs that are done by Apple. The company has standards. Some people actually prefer them, as they've received individual attention from Apple's technicians rather than coming off a production line. That's why you don't get very much money off them.

Do new batteries degrade sitting in unopened boxes? Looking at new old stock of a Nike AW6.

If AW7 had space grey, I would have jumped, but not a fan of midnight.

Starlight and midnight are awful replacements for white and black.

Real glad I got S6 in 2020.

I'll take new over refurbished when it comes to Watches, any day of the week.

Why?

1. First, and foremost, choice of band!

2. New battery. Apple does not automatically give you a new battery on the refurb watches as it does on iOS devices.

3. New casing. Apple does not automatically give you a new outer shell with refurb watches as it does with iOS devices.

4. No waiting for the right item to show up on the refurb page. To the person who reported that they'd take a refurb Apple 6 for $240 over a refurb series 7 — well, sure, so would I, but Apple doesn't offer that, nor
have I ever seen that price. Best for $279 and that was a refurb Series 5! Also, it was GPS only!

For other Apple products, refurbs are a no-brainer.

Or possibly look for new S6 which are still available and cheaper than refurbished S7.

I do like the S7's larger display though.

Why? Saves you money, get the same warranty and will look exactly the same as brand new, better for the environment too!

Edit - I keep getting responses that say you can buy it new on Amazon for the same price or slightly less. I get this, for the same price there is an argument to get it new because why wouldn’t you. However I do think Apple refurbished is good sometimes because it can be cheaper and you are helping the environment. In this case however I guess buying on Amazon for around the same price would make sense!
its refurbished for a reason

I've seen multiple posts saying you can get them new on Amazon or elsewhere cheaper than Apple's refurbished. But right now, a refurbished Series 7 45mm is on Apple's website for $359. I don't currently see any retailer with a new price close to that. Also, I called Apple last night and was told that if you order refurbished for in-store pickup, they will let you trade the band. (However, take that with a grain of salt, as the phone agent also implied that the exterior would be new as on iOS products, which doesn't appear to be the case based on what others have said here.)

Prices aren't static.

Nice! Was that online or in the store? How did you get that?
It was in the store. Apple doesn't seem to officially state this on their website, so your mileage may vary. Here's an older article talking about it. Basically, for Apple to come down 10%, the item has to be on sale at a physical store (and no price clubs like Costco) from an authorized retailer. My order was tricky because I swapped the band that came with the watch through the "create your style" program only available at Apple stores. So that meant I was actually buying a package that wasn't available at other retailers, putting the discount in jeopardy. But the manager tried a few different things in their system and was able to get me a flat $35 price match discount (about 8.8% off the $399 price). That was good enough for me, as buying the watch plus band I wanted would have been more than that elsewhere.
