Does anyone else think it is odd that Apple is selling accessories for the S7 when it won't be released until "this Fall" (whatever that means). I know this can be used with older Apple Watches for normal charging but still...

Hopefully this charger also comes with the S7.

Is it tough? I do the same. But my Apple Watch Series 6 already charges from 10% to 100% in what feels like about 1 hour. I haven't really measured it, but it feels really fast.

Apple made a point about you only needing to charge it for 8 minutes to get 8 hours of sleep tracking. That is nice I suppose if I end up going to bed and my watch is already dead or close to being dead. But it's only 33% fast, that would normally mean you could achieve the same with a Series 6 by charging about 14 minutes. I have to admit, 8 minutes versus 14 minutes doesn't really make a difference to me in any meaningful way.

I always use my watch for sleep tracking. I have a MagSafe Duo charger at my desk and drop my watch on the charger during my workday. If the charging takes me 45 minutes or 1h and 15 minutes doesn't make much of a difference to me.

But each to their own I guess.
12 minutes actually; 12 minutes * (100%-33%) = 8 minutes :)

Does anyone know if the puck is the same size as the old one?

wondering about compatibility with desk stands etc.

I want to buy a stand for my watch and MagSafe charger.

I guess if you use your Watch heavily, and it's often not in range of the iPhone, faster charging makes sense. I wear mine when I sleep and charge it in the morning while I'm in the shower. When I wake up, it's typically at 30%.
If I don't shower in the morning, it will sometimes last me another full day, and then I'll charge it getting ready for bed.

What are the odds they don't include this cable with the Watch 7? Not a big leap considering they pulled chargers from iPhones....

The only other guess I have is that this cable may be substantially longer than the one they plan on including with the Watch 7, which I wouldn't be surprised if it something silly like a 3 inch cable length....

They include the usb c cable in the iPhone box but not the charger.

They’ll do the same here. Include the charging puck but not the plug.

Does anyone know if the existing magsafe duo already supports this?
I am also very concerned about this issue. Really wondering for what specific reason they decided to remove the old type-c model A2257 from the sale. Was the reason for the cable, or did the changes really affect the case of the device itself?

Could it be that Apple "foresaw" a watch update so they could release a fast charge firmware for the MagSafe Duo? They should have some kind of roadmap about device support in advance. Plus, development starts long before the product is released. If I'm not mistaken, the firmware can be updated via the iPhone attached to the MagSafe Duo.

Frighteningly, the MagSafe Duo page does not actually mention fast charging for the Apple Watch 7. And it is very strange that at such a large presentation, where the new capabilities of new devices were repeated several times in different variations, apple did not find 10 seconds to clarify this feature (given the cost of MagSafe Duo).

P.S. We all remember the story of the 29W charger and MagSafe Duo.

Sleep tracking is one of my favourite Apple Watch things, has been for a while (using third-party apps before Apple added it officially).

It means doing two charges per day (morning/evening), so this will be very welcome.
Apple does sleep tracking now?

This doesn't look good for the MagSafe Duo etc. If the previous USB-C to Apple Watch charger had to be replaced with this new one in order to support faster charging I suppose there is indeed something different in the "puck" itself. I suppose that means the MagSafe Duo won't have this new capabilities and other charging solutions that in theory should be capable of providing additional juice like the Belkin 3-in-1 MagSafe chargers won't support it either.
I was thinking of buy the belkin 3-1 charger but if it doesn't support fast charge it loses the whole point of having an tidy charging base.

wait, the usb c apple watch changer i got before doesnt support faster changing? :(

Peak Apple. You have to go out and buy the *new* USB-C Apple Watch charging cable to get fast charging. Your existing USB-C Apple Watch charging cable, likely purchased within the past 18 months, won't fast charge. That's how you become a trillion dollar company.
