Unfortunately no Foldable this far has been released with top notch cameras and it doesn't seem like Apple will be either which is a shame cuz this could have been their stand out feature

The Huawei X7 has launched with the same camera as the slab phone but I think that’s about it.

I'm thinking that killing the iPhone mini wasn't because of poor sales, it was for the long game of making pocketable iPhones more expensive, LOL.
That's basically conspiracy theory fodder. The truth is that the iPhone mini indeed had poor sales according to all the pundits. Apple would have kept it around if it had better sales, even if they wanted to sell foldables later.

My gf has a Samsung Flip 5 because a. her previous phone broke, b. marketing worked on her and c. she needs a phone that fits in woman’s pants pockets. Also she appreciates that she needs to actively open her phone up to doom scroll.
My daughter has actually quit buying any pants which have those ridiculous small pockets. She just wants the same pockets men have. And yes, she's a fashionable teen woman but totally not interested in a foldable or flip iPhone nor in any high-end iPhone: she feels they're way too expensive and bring the wrong vibe: only the snobs have those expensive high end iPhones, bought by their daddies. This daddy just won't.

The iPhone mini sales were lower than other iPhones, but after all the profit would be huge compared to e. g. all Mac sales combined. Apple has a lot of products that are much more niche and much less justified than a phone that fits in a pocket without feeling like a brick, and that you can use one-handedly. It was probably the SE (and currently the 16e) that cannibalized it, as well as the "mini" name which implied a small screen even though it was larger than both the 6, 7 and 8. The iPhone 4 was my absoute favorite, perfect size for a phone.

On the flip side (pun intended) a book-style device allows you to have double the screen real estate, essentially turning the device into an iPad mini when opened up, but keeping it essentially the same when in the pocket
You must have big pockets. In the winter the coat pockets are big enough, but in the summer the phone needs to be no more than 3 X 3, or maybe 3 X 4 inches to fit in even my larger shirt pockets.

I'm not sure I'm actually looking at a product that's coming.

Apple has become incredibly good at "testing", "trialing", "considering", "thinking about", "talking about"...

But not so much actually "doing".
I think they've always been doing those things, it's just now the so-called leaks seem to be controlled by Apple themselves to test the waters and see the public's reaction.

Either people scroll up and down or side to side the UX hasn’t changed much.
Uhm what are you talking about? You don’t just scroll left or right to use social media on your outer display, you don’t use it at all, I don’t even think you can use them there.

That’s a great attitude of your daughter.
Honestly my gf hates those kinds of pants as well and has a couple from the men’s section, you could never tell they are except for one.

In early 2022, iPhone 13 mini represented 3% of global iPhone sales. The iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max represented the 68% of global iPhone sales. IOW, out of the four models of the iPhone 13 series, the mini represented only 4% of total sales.

The foldable iPhones likely won't have high unit sales either, but they will cost more and may generate more revenue and profit. Furthermore, foldable sales have gradually been increasing in the last several years. In late 2025, there was a 14% increase in global foldable phone sales YoY.
