Blackmagic's DaVinci Resolve offers a free version that is much better than FCPX in my opinion. Oh and did I say it's FREE??

As it was bought at least 2 million times, if just ten percent use it professionally (making money, not necessarily being an editor in Hollywood), that is 200.000 professionals.
And if you get away from track based thinking, which is based on reels of film and video tape players, FCP X is quite powerful and faster than any editing software I have used (I grew up with Avid since 2000 and have used Premiere and Premiere Pro every now an then).

Maybe they should have integrated Color better into FCP X, but as of now, FCP X and Motion are more powerful than they were 8 years ago.
But it is hard to let go of track based thinking, which took me at least three tries, but now I couldn't have it any other way - I was using video editing software for 20 years before I used FCP X.
Good to know that a “traditional” video editor is able to adapt to this paradigm. After learning Avid and then using the original FCP I was constantly irritated by the new new interface, essentially iMovie Pro (which I could never come to terms with), which is what it should have been at the start. FCP 3 should never have been dropped with extreme prejudice, and destroyed confidence in Apple in the huge production area I was working in. FCP X was nowhere near ready to sub for the classic version for years and was an insane move. I’m glad it’s working for people now, but ceded power back to Avid and revived Premiere.

lol what sane professional is still cutting on Final Cut Pro in 2020? Great measure by Apple, but I have to laugh.

Final Cut Pro is by far the fastest and most reliable NLE available right now. PLENTY of professionals are cutting on it - such as that tiny organisation the BBC.

Any experience with the trial use, how did it go? Does this run better with more cores or with more RAM? Thanks.
What is better: 2018 Mac Mini 6 Cores 32G RAM eGPU Vega 64, or MacBook Pro 8 cores 16G RAM 5500 4G??

Cheers.

Coming over from Premier, the price tag isn't the challenge. The way Final Cut organizes files is. Mac already has Finder. Why do they need different labels (library, events, projects) and why do they force me away from an already organized file structure? Best thing they could do to FCPX, IMO, is allow me the choice to use Finder or their keyword org system. Could be a checkbox.
