Puzzled why Apple's gift would be a discount on content within free apps (with in app purchases) baiting you to sign up and forget to cancel. It looks like a paid advertisement by the two apps, but it doesn't sound like something Apple would normally be ok with.

As expected, the usual here from the “Apple can do no rught “ crowd :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Part of it is the rumor sites building it up, and then there being disappointment. Part of it is Apple has become increasingly stingy this year in customer dealings (or at least that's been my experience), and it very well could be a tactic to get people to create an account and add their Credit Card.

Apple doesn't do anything no matter how good it is unless it benefits Apple somehow. And that is the same for any company nowadays. I just don't visit the rumor sites as often because like the news media, they are losing things to talk about and garner attention so what is reported on gets dramatized or built up.

Update 10:39 a.m.: The surprises have gone live in New Zealand, and MacRumors readers tonyduffe and @Ldeverell report that the deals include a special in-app purchase bundle Looney Tunes World of Mayhem and a three-month subscription for the price of one month in Canva. We'll have to see if offers are the same around the world.

Apple has a Market Cap today of $1.3T USD, & that's the best they can do !

Schiller, even you, can do better than that !

Apple should offer something "worthwhile" every single day during their Xmas App Store promo period !

And by offer, I mean FULLY subsidized by AAPL !

The assumption that this will be a global thing is a bold one given that IIRC the previous "12 Days of Christmas" ones weren't global, in fact I'm not sure they even happened in the US?
But they did happen in Ireland...and I miss them. I still have some of the stuff I got ‘back in the day’!

Yup, live in nz this morning too

The surprise is that offering 60% discount on the purchase of 200 gems for a game is not exactly the holiday gift of a lifetime...

Never heard of the game, no plans to install it. What a weird gift idea!

I don't trust apps so I try to minimize the number of non-Apple apps on my phone. Don't care for free stuff.

Here's a HUG for Christmas! And a tin-foil hat. 🤣 Just kidding. You use iOS to be in the safe...r haven, right? Trust a little, risk a little, live a little.

Just pushing services I see..

If they are going to do that, why not give every iPhone user 1 year of ATV+ free.. it would be far better then looney tunes

I would be pleasantly surprised if they introduce an update to the TV App that lets you write reviews, see other reviews, and has a wish list feature.
Will these blatant drops in the TV app (which existed in the old iTunes) be introduced as "new" functionality?

LOL at guys complaining about their present not being good enough. Sounds like a spoiled brat.

I'm not seeing this yet in UK (it is now the 24th December). Perhaps it will appear later in the day 🤔

Well, it won’t be called the 12 days of Christmas, obviously... and 12 matched with the timing is a little too suggestive of the C word anyways, so it’ll be less... to be more inclusive obviously. That it will cost them less has absolutely nothing to do with it. 😏

What are we talking about here?

FM2020 free on Xmas Day and Tim can do unspeakable things to me.

Instead, looking forward to 0.5% off 12000 FIFA Points.

I'd like to Give a lot of Apple's leadership the boot. Just being honest....

Get back to focusing on quality, don't over promise and then under deliver. Seems to be the mantra as of late.

A working Laptop for one, an appeasement for destroying 9 HomePods with a software update in October, and in general giving everyone stable product and releases. It's just been the opposite of the house that Steve built since Sept release.

I'm all for turnarounds so don't take this as a rant, but more a request for improvement. But in speaking for what most customers would like, that is getting your money's worth and this just hasn't been a good second half of 2019....

Today's story cards have gone up but the apps have not been revealed as of yet.
