Apple is a global company. They don’t break down sales for just the U.S., but they have greater sales in the rest of the world (55%) than in North and South America combined (45%).

That literally did not happen. Wasn’t advertised far and wide. The only clicks driven here were to macrumors for setting up your expectation that a regional promotion was global when they didn’t have any reason to do so.

Look, I LOVE macrumors and have recommended it's guides to many folks. I kinda misspoke when I said "advertising." BUT, when macrumors posts a "news" article that drives me to a website that does NOT offer what that "story" tells me it will, I can consider that an advertisement to drive traffic (which it sure did, several times I went to the store to see if it was just some delay). Maybe I missed it but I do not recollect any subsequent stories that explained WHY the premise of the article delivered what it said it will (other than drive traffic) turned out to be incorrect.
