I don't know where you shop, but having worked retail before that never happens. In fact I'm sure it's illegal if a retailer did that.
That's like saying Apple have upped their retail pricing this morning by the value of what gift card you're getting.

In my part of the world it happens and I don't see the authorities shutting down businesses.

Almost 30 years ago I worked in a clothing store that would pull this stunt every few months.

Why is it that any news related to Apple fails to impress me and sort of disappoints me more. Everything Apple has done the last couple of years didn't impress me or even give me a short wow moment...

I'm used to the idea that Apple is more expensive but I also had the impression they were cutting edge and you get what you pay for. These days it's meh, lack of coolness and have seen it before from other brands.

A company this size with so little products to focus on and with lots of dollars on the bank should be able to at least have an update of that small assortment every year. I don't see any focus and I don't understand the direction the company is going. I'm lost here so if you have any idea please help me out.

All I see is a computercompany offering minimalistic gear at subrealistic prices. Pretending to be innovative and hip but missing the tune to be that. Lame, childish presentations of new products where they try to be funny but for me making the impression that even their products aren't serious anymore.

The famous saying 'you'll only see this coming from Apple' is coming from other companies these days. What's happening? I'm waiting for 4+ years now for those great products coming out of that pipeline... where is it?

Please Please bring it on in Germany as well, my dad wants to buy a new iMac and I need a late 2016 macbook, so I could use his 200 $ gift card :D

The latest hardware is heavily backlordered (try to find a Watch Series 2 in Italy), at full price. Discounts make no sense on these products.

It doesn't make sense from a counting beans point of view. It would make sense from a company who cares for their customers and a sympathetic gesture towards them. It would make potential customers more happy with the brand and even make profit.

I hope your dad won't buy the outdated iMac and he waits till new ones come out. The price for the outdated tech in the iMac right now is pure theft.

Nope.

A company that "cares about their customers " does not discount for Black Friday a product that won't deliver for 4-5 weeks. Get over it.

If you consider that abortion of a keyboard an upgrade fine. Pretty sure everybody doesn't.
You mean pretty sure not everybody does...

It's definitely a slight improvement over the 12" MacBook but... I had to use my old Surface Pro to print something the other day and its Type Cover felt miles better than the latest MBP keyboard even after a long absence. I have the Power Cover too and that is even better than the Type Cover.

Honestly my local Apple Store has got the non touchbar MacBook Pro on display next to the 12 inch MacBook I was in there last week and tried them side by side and I couldn't tell any difference at all.

The Surface type cover is definitely better. Shocking really.

I'd be happy with a discount on the non touch bar MacBook Pro 13 inch. Which is available everywhere. Including all my local apple stores. Also online.
