Comparing this to a Dot or Google's cheap version is not comparing apples to oranges. They give those devices away many different times throughout the year. HomePod is a music device first and the people that bought and kept them realize that.

Except you can connect real pro level speakers to audio output on Echo Dot and it has a mic off button. Even better if you can get the Echo Dot for free. Nice try.

Someone looking for pro-level sound would hook up their pro-level speakers to an Echo Dot with its internal pro-level single chip amplifier (powered by its pro-level wall wart power supply)?

It’s been more than 2 years since launch, yet not available in most countries in the world. Were they really expecting a strong sale?

I’d buy a HomePod for that price!

lol “I’d buy that for a dollar” (Robocop OG)

I need to befriend an employee to get me another pair for the bedroom.

bruh, we here you & I in thoughts ;)

No physical mic disable switch = no buy.

Well at least you can disable in software. Sonos claims physical but it’s touch based and thus software driven as well. Can you name a competitor in wireless home speakers that has a hardware (through and through) based mic kill switch?!

You're still posting about a product you don't like?

Enjoy your "pro level" speakers and your Dot. I'll stick with the HomePod.

Anyone with real speakers already have an amp. What's so hard to understand?

That would be you: "Except you can connect real pro level speakers to audio output on Echo Dot and it has a mic off button. Even better if you can get the Echo Dot for free. Nice try."

I'm surprised you can't pair 2 HomePods for stereo to a AppleTV.

Really? You can pair a single HomePod to an AppleTV. But not a stereo pair?

As a former employee that could get you fired. It's available for the "Friends & Family" discount from what I've read.

1. They would never use their personal discount for a random
2. If they did and someone found out they would be fired.

Enjoy your locked-down single-purpose mono speaker with no audio input.

For the same $200 budget smart consumers and audio enthusiasts can access Apple Music on the free Echo Dot with something like a pair of PreSonus Eris E5 studio monitors (not one speaker but a pair) with the versatility and freedom of using it for other things like synths, PC, other music services, etc. besides Apple Music. Or, with their existing speakers with no out of pocket cost.

I've got single one do they sound that much better as a stereo pair? One is certainly very good volume wise so 2 must be huge!

I would, if only the HomePod were available for sale in my country.

I don’t plan to hook up anything to it, and I am using Apple Music, so those limitations don’t really pose any inconvenience to me. Another main draw would be that it uses Siri. Since I am already using a number of other Apple devices, Apple already has my data anyways. Makes more sense to keep all that within Apple, rather than using an echo or google home and introducing another company’s AI into my house to eavesdrop on.

Can't you import it and use a VPN if needed to get around any geo blocking? Power input is already universal 100V to 240V.

You're just going to give up that easily and let common sense prevail? People want to hear you expound on the few benefits of HomePod.
