The USB-C power adapter and the USB-C - to - Lightning cable arrived today. Haven't tried them out yet since the iPad Pro is freshly charged, I'd automatically stuck it on the charger overnight. When the time comes I'll try the new cable and adapter. I bought both from Apple -- I'm not taking any chances with third-party cables or adapters.

I got the Apple charging cable and Apple USB-C adapter. Here are my results - first 3 (1A-1C) are with the 12W charger/cable that was included with the iPad Pro, and then a final screenshot (2C) with the new USB-C setup. You can see that the software wasn't updated yet, as it shows "12W" as the max input current for the iPad.

The iPad was only charging at 15W with the USB-C cable, but that might be because it was already >80% charged and was slowing down the charging rate. In any case, it's faster than the included 12W charger.

Finally, I also have a highly rated 3rd party USB-C to Lightning cable scheduled to arrive tomorrow, so I'll see how that works with the Apple 29W charger.

EDIT: Keep in mind that it's better for the battery to charge slowly. If you have the time to do an overnight charge, I'd highly recommend you use the included 12W charger. I'm only planning on using the USB-C charger when a quick charge is necessary.

EDIT 2: I tried a 3rd party USB-C to Lightning cable (JOTO cable from Amazon) and it didn't charge at all from the USB-C Apple charger (see pic 3A). It looks like for now you need the real Apple charger and cable to quick charge the 12.9" iPad Pro.

I have now tried mine out and was surprised at how fast it charged. I agree with awer25 that the fast charging process should not be used as an everyday thing, but rather for those times when one really needs to get the iPad fully charged in a hurry. That's what I am planning to do: most of the time I will charge it overnight with the 12w adapter -- it is only when I've been using the device extensively and have run out of juice and really need to be able to continue what I've been doing that I would charge it with the faster combination of the 29w adapter and USB-C-to-lightning cable.

Actually, that app shows how much wattage the iPad Pro is getting in addition to what it's using, which is why it often shows a deficit when using the 12W charger. If it shows 15W with the 29W charger, that means the iPad Pro is using 14W to operate. If you were to decrease the brightness and wait about 10 seconds, the app would likely show an increase to around 19W depending on how low you turned the brightness.
[doublepost=1461279639][/doublepost]Can anyone tell me if the new Lightning to USB-C cable will allow the 12.9" iPad Pro to charge above 12W when connected to a 15W USB-C car charger? I'm not looking for incredible charging speeds like with the Apple 29W wall charger, but enough to sustain the current battery level when in use (right now my 12W car charger doesn't sustain it and the battery slowly drains). I actually have my iPad Pro mounted on my power wheelchair and have rigged a cigarette lighter to the batteries on the chair and that currently powers a nice Anker charger which my iPad Pro is plugged into. I use the device for nearly everything, so it gets a good 12-14 hours of use every day, if not more, so I'm looking for a way to charge slightly faster
