Came here to cry about my first world problem. Called Verizon last night and said, "If I order online, and then go to a store and wait and get there early enough to secure a phone, can they cancel my online purchase?" They said absolutely. Woke at 2am, ordered a silver 16gb 5s, then got to the Verizon store at 4am. Waited 4 hours in the rain (the things we do for our significant others). I was third in line out of about 30. They grabbed my silver 5s 16gb, but couldn't complete the transaction since I purchased it online already. I told the guy "I called customer service last night and they said you'd be able to cancel." He said, "you heard wrong; there's nothing I can do." I left very pissed. Called Verizon again and they said all the guy would have needed to do was call to cancel the order. We'll end up getting the phone in a week, but needless to say that was a terrible way to spend a portion of my day off.

I placed my order on the Verizon site last night - 3 seconds before my son on his laptop secured one on Apple.com This morning I called and cancelled the Verizon order...took 3 mins.

Its a shame some reps dont trying to assist -

For those of you that got the verizon 5s at the store. Can you surf the web and talk on the phone at the same time like you could on AT&T?

These forums overwhelmingly opined that the gold phone was a big mistake and would fall flat.

Doesn't look that way, does it?

Again, Apple seems to know more about what we want than we do. At least more than the people who post on these forums.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough:

I purchased mine slightly after 0300 eastern time as I was watching the final minutes of the countdown on AT&T's website. By the time I was able to purchase the 64GB black and slate version I will be waiting until October 21-30. Seems kinda long to me?

My silver iphone 5s already on the way!

Ordered my 16GB Silver Iphone 5s yesterday around 2:23 am central time.

Got an email in the morning from AT&T that estimated delivery is between October 21-29.

Received another email a few minutes ago that my phone was already shipped via FedEx Standard Overnight. Can't wait to receive it on Monday, yippee!

Glad that my decision not to fall in line at a retail store and instead staying up late paid off :)

You say production, I say partially planned. Let's agree to disagree and move to a different point. We can take this conversation up in approximately 12 months when the 6 has constrained supply.

/calendar marked.

Fair enough; it's mostly just rhetorical since no one would be able to pin Apple down anyway.

Was able to pick up an iPhone 5s (Space Gray, Sprint, 64GB) model this evening at the local Apple Store for my brother to replace a 4S. I was looking for the 32GB so he paid a $100 premium to have it today. The Gold went in the first hour, and the silver later in the day. (My brother's 4s suffered some water damage recently and the LED light is stuck on, so that was an incentive to get something right away; I'm the account holder with a family plan).

Interestingly, as a purchasing decision, I personally felt driven more to the iPhone 5s by my dislike for the iPhone 5c color palette choices. Perhaps there's some psychology at play which would in itself be a much more interesting subject.
