that depot is not apples it is a massive authorized service center. IF you look at the invoice carefully it is a service center that is based and owned by a private corporation not apple. I hope apple moves away from these places the techs at these private centers do not really do a good job had to have mine sent back as they must of not tested it before they sent it back to apple. It went in to have logic board replaced and came back with a none working screen. So wonders if they even tested it. Once i got it back a second time i had the local apple store test it before i picked it up.

----------

they shipped the replacement ipod nano (when they had the gen 1 recall) from carlisle PA.

Oh that means they service other brands too. This is going to lead to an obvious drop in quality.

Yay I live about an hour from there.

I work in Carlisle. I hadn't heard a thing about it.

They need more apple stores in Pennsylvania that are not in Philly. I live in the middle of PA and there are 0 apple stores.

Hear, hear. I have to go to Towson, MD or Lancaster to go to a store. I'd love to have one in Harrisburg or Camp Hill.

This is not a new apple warehouse. Apple has been located at this warehouse for a couple of years now. I think it was mainly a small distribution center. The other company that shared this warehouse with them moved locations and apple must have leased the rest of the warehouse.

I think you are right. A lot of stuff shipped out of a PA location when I used to live on the east coast.

They probably extended it or restructured the inside to support repairs.

This was certainly kept quiet...

I mean, with the new data centers that have come online, we've heard about them for months ahead of their construction.

Indeed! I'm in NYC, and imagine my surprise when I got my iPhone mail-in warranty service shipped from PA last week! :)

Odd...I thought Apple already had a warehouse there, since my refurbished 2009 MBP had a PA address.

Apple has had a presence in PA for a while now. The address you received your package from was the East Coast Hub (Has since moved to a larger location). Same location where all Apple Stores receive their shipments from.

Basically guys, Apple has hubs and shipping points all over the country. And most of these have been around for a while.

And most repairs being sent out on the East Coast get sent to Tennessee (As for retail stores sending out repairs).

Oh for Heaven Sakes, you got to be kidding..

In the tech world they are. Especially when they are designed like the one's Google and Apple have built in recent years. No one cares about a service center in relation to that.

That's one big building

Is this to all thise non-AAPP customers??

Because jow sppedy do you want it done otherwise... Since APP users get priority, its on,y a few days its gone.

All the time i have my Macbook Pro booked in on Monday, pick it up Thursday same week.

This would bsically mean, having this help, we may see a 24-hour turn-around.

Bring it in...:)

Also, would be good to see an iOS app for APP users.

Exactly Apple has had this as a distribution center for a long time. Not new facility at all. They have had a pressence in the Carlisle area dating back almost 20yrs. It was actually operated under a shell corporation name for a long time though.

Neighbors

I live Carlisle! Not that it means anything...just saying.

We must be neighbors - I live in Carlisle too! Welcome to my town Apple! I have an iPhone replacement coming today - maybe it will come from there.

I echo the comments of other PA mid-staters. Park City is 1 hour from me, and very inconvenient. Would love to see a store in Harrisburg!

Quicker!?!

I was a technician at the Apple Store in Louisville...Not sure how much faster turn around times could be. The 3 day turnaround was usually pretty accurate. Laptops were shipped the next day and almost always back the day after the next.

The last line in the article tickles me. How would they charge a per-user AppleCare coverage plan? Yearly plan, unlimited number of devices as long as you own them?

Hey neighbor! Couldn't agree more. Harrisburg store would rock...except for the hit to my bank account.
