Lately I prefer to watch Bob's instead of Family Guy (and I haven't been a fan of the Simpsons in a decade) :p

Family Guy (haven't watched for years) got repetitive and just hateful/caustic (not like we'd watch that with our little G), Simpsons kind of ran out of steam a decade ago, just a different show now, though we still catch most of them.

Bobs' Burgers we actively seek out: it's well written, great voice acting, it's funny, clever, charming, has a perfect little touch of subversive humor, and heck, really sweet family dynamics with the characters.

Loren Bouchard was also a creator/writer of the criminally underappreciated Home Movies (some of the same voice talent).

Bob’s Burgers trumps all cartoons on Fox network right now. I put King of the Hill up there with Bob’s Burger and the earlier Simpson years where the storyline was captivating and solely relied on the storyline. The same could still be done with all Simpsons episodes nowadays but jokes from left field (aka family guy formula) is killing the Simpsons.

Family Guy stunk from day one, and the Simpsons has unfortunately adopted the formula from Family Guy whereby jokes come from left field completely out of the blue. I once stumbled onto a Family Guy episode where Peter Griffin injures his leg on the side walk, and the same recycled animation where he holds his leg and writhing in pain for 30 seconds seemingly goes on and on. The most disgusting thing about Family Guy are those inserted jokes and sequences where they don’t even add to the storyline - a clown or monkey or whatever just so happens to appear on scene when the entire episode was never about them. Again, I don’t know the exact details but simply ... jokes entirely from left field.

... And unfortunately the Simpsons have adopted some of the same formula. Rewatch any of the latest Simpsons’ episodes and imagine the producers removing all those inserted jokes from left field or some inserted character or quick sequence where they don’t add value to the storyline and Simpsons would be SO MUCH better.

Peter Griffin writhing in pain - recycled animation plays over and over for 30 seconds — terrible. The worst. Absolutely terrible.

i hate musicals. even as a kid, i hated when my favorite disney/cartoons started singing.

Not exactly sure how I feel about an entire episode devoted to a singing musical. And if it’s a subscription service, I’m out.

In which app will be able to watch these shows?

Not the ‘Music’ app, surely...?

So will the TV app be update to have an ‘Apple TV’ tab, but only for Apple Music subscribers?

Or are Apple planning an Apple TV subscription service, a bit like Netflix?
I’m afraid it will be the latter for an above premium price. It will start with 20 shows with the promise that there is lots more to come in the never ending pipeline.

Where's my goddamn Mac Pro?
Hi mr. Skippermonkey, this is Tim. Tim Cook to be precisely. The new Mac Pro is in our pipeline. By the time it comes out, there won’t be any pro software available because we’ve neglected our pro customers for too long that they’ve abandoned ship and found better, cheaper, more technological advanced alternatives who deliver a good roadmap for the future so their investment is safe. Of course we will welcome you as our first customer to our ‘stuck in the never ending pipeline’ Mac Pro and I can personally promise you that it will be the most expensive computer... eeerrrmmm... best computer you can buy. Hope that satisfies your question.

Tim

Not feeling very Bullish on Apple original programming. Perfectionism in hardware and software creation doesn't lend well to perfectionism in artistic forms. Not to mention how they are self limiting based upon a family friendly only lineup.

Not only that, these original content titles will almost guaranteed to not be available away from the Apple ecosystem of hardware, therefore limiting the potential success of these shows.

I know a ton of people who own an iPhone or a Mac, but hardly anyone that has an ever owned an AppleTV, because how limited they are. Very few people will watch tv content on a phone or a laptop.

Most of those people that have a Smart TV, a Roku box, or some other device that can attach to their TV that will play all kinds of content. AppleTV is extremely limited, especially outside of the US.

THIS is what I can't atand about Apple's "new" content! All they are doing is buying out creators of shows which were a hit at some point in the attempt that said producer/writer will turn out another hit. There's nothing original going on here! Netflix has a variety of original shows and most of their shows have become wildly successful. They can spot talent and potential unlike Apple rehashing old shows like Amazing stories and current trends which people are tired of like Carpool Karaoke.

I miss the 90's Discovery/History channel. Someone needs to invest in that content again.

There was some good stuff. Then again there is already a lot of WWII and Hitler documentaries out there. Do we need more of them?

Blame the wave of anti-intellectualism for that.

Hedonism and vain curiosity lie behind that. Reality shows, which are anything but real, took over.

I loved the early Simpsons but overall I think King of the Hill was the best cartoon. I like the fact that Hank was a well meaning and good father. Most cartoons make the husband an idiot. Fortunately, unlike these other shows, they stopped before they got awful.

330,000,000 in this country and they go for reheated leftovers that were a regurgitation of the 90s culture, which was the backend blessings of the 60s-80s prime pickings. Good one, Apple!

Bob’s Burger is tremendous and still going strong unlike a lot of shows that run out of steam. Hopefully Apple can throw some money at Raphael Bob-Waksberg/Lisa Hanawalt, although they are stretched pretty thin between three shows now.

Just want to point out that the third to last paragraph that lists all the shows Apple has bought the rights to should have been separated by semicolons, not commas, to help with the clarity of the paragraph. I don’t know whether the description applies the the item that comes before or after.

Or better yet, use a list.

here is an idea.....just like apple music, have a subscription for apple's movie catalog....why haven't they done this? yeah it would cost more a month but still.......

That's mostly what Hollywood has always been, that's like complaining they hired Speilsberg to make ET cause they should be original and hire some untried nobody that crashes and burns 80% just in case they got some diamond in the rough.

Cause being hipsters and "original" is more important than making an actual decent product.

Or, oohh, why is Michelangela doing the sistine Chapel, they should have let "insert third rate renaissance twit" to do it.

Who the hell cares. All that counts are the results.

A lot of Netflix's best content comes from creators with a good track record. That's how it usually goes.
