I don't even need to read the synopsis. A cool-looking robot design and Tom Hanks, in a movie. 🤩
Drugs on the left, hookers on the right! I just hope the production wasn’t cruel to the donkey. You clearly missed Bachelor Party.
That assumes an awful lot about everyone who likes Tom Hanks flicks, or sees some value in cool visuals. That’s what Hollywood is counting on. Cool visuals and hot actors, who needs anything else?
Forget about plot, theme, mood, story logic, and especially ideas.
The alternative these days, a trailer that basically spoils the film. I don’t need a 2 minute spoiler to know I‘m going to watch this. (And Foundation, and Invasion, and multiple 2nd seasons. - the catalogue grows - really can’t go wrong with Hanks)A photo? The movie drops in 3 months and all they have to show is a single photo?
Sigh
Why is apple so horrible at promoting its video content?
I was thinking more of a “AI: Artificial Intelligence” vibe/tone.

Netflix releases mounds of trash. Apple releases select gems. I'll take the few and the quality over the quantity of trashola.Shill much? Netflix releases more original content in one day than Apple TV+ Has released ever.
I don't even need a trailer. The one-paragraph synopsis in the press release is enough for me to know that it's going to be so sad in the third act that I probably won't be able to watch it. And if I do, it's going to be one of those bittersweet films that sticks with me the rest of my life, like Silent Running. The alternative these days, a trailer that basically spoils the film. In that case yes, Ted Lasso is their only real legitimate hit critically and commercially since launch and they were just hyping the heck out of season 2. The funny thing is season 1 was barely advertised and flew under the radar until a word of mouth campaign lead to some prominent articles in various magazines and websites and then it took off, again almost in spite of Apple given how little they did to promote it.Lol. When Apple held special live events promoting Ted Lasso many people on MacRumours were complaining it was being over-promoted; nothing to do with you, just an observation. I am with you, I would like to see more. That said, trailers and marketing are their own monsters which is not what I do.
To quote Dr. Frank-n-Furter, “Antici………………………………………………..pation!”
Curious that you accuse me of shilling for expressing an opinion and then follow that up with a statement that is clearly and verifiably untrue.Shill much? Netflix releases more original content in one day than Apple TV+ Has released ever.
I would strongly argue that Ted Lasso is not Apple’s only hit, just their biggest by far; in fairness it is one of the biggest hits this season on any platform. I would also be interested what your background is that you know so much about marketing? “Sucks“ is a strong statement. Your perception certainly does not match the reality of what I see in regards to promotional efforts but perhaps we simply have different perspectives. In that case yes, Ted Lasso is their only real legitimate hit critically and commercially since launch and they were just hyping the heck out of season 2. Apple straight up sucks at promoting their video content, and season 1 of Ted lasso is a prime example of that fact.
