This latest round of "innovation" has truly been beyond depressing.

BTW, I just spent $300 to replace my Apple home networking gear. This has been a tough break up.

Next on the to-do list, moving all my media to Plex after buying a home server.

Then, a new cell phone a la the anticipated Pixel 3 XL.

Tim Cook killed Apple's soul.

I know this is supposed to be fun, but I honestly think companies aren't funny. Facebook isn't funny when they try, Google isn't either. They can't be. To be funny, you have to have some sense of self-mockery, some reflection that recognizes weaknesses unapologetically and uses them to form some sort of a pun. And in my opinion that is literally the opposite of what companies are meant to do. Companies are like strongholds that try to suggest an image of gapless strength to investors. There are no levels of irony in this. This isn't mocking emojis in some ironic sense (which actually might have been funny), this is 100% serious. This says "We love emojis, let's emoji together!", nothing more. And no, that is not funny. It's, as others pointed out, obnoxious, nothing else.

This tells you everything you need to know about Apple's priorities.

That they have a sense of humor? I’m glad some people in the Apple community are able to laugh once in a while.

There's actually such a thing as World Emoji Day??? o_O

So you use an emoji to convey your shock and perplexity?
Good job.

What an absolute waste of time and money, when their Mac hardware is suffering sorely, and their Mac OS releases are even more pathetic.

Somewhere in the TIKI BAR they are complaining about the complete waste of bandwidth for this article. Can you imagine Steve Jobs allowing himself to be emoji'd or Bill Gates or ... frankly, just about anyone. It has nothing to do with the products and is just plain hubris (if turning yourself into versions of AstroBoy/Girl is hubris).

It's sickening to see what this company has become vs. what it was under Steve. I'm actively cheering for Apple to crash so they can get rid of these fools. I'm positive that pretty much anyone on MacRumors could do a better job of running product development.

Really? You are so invested in these things that it actually “sickens” you? And you want the company to fail and cost untold jobs and negatively affect millions upon millions of retirement plans because... what? No new Mac mini? What a joyless situation.

I guess they didn't have any horse part emojis for Al Gore. Sorry, I actually voted for the guy but it was just too easy.

No, it’s funny. :p

something, something... fun at parties :D

I’ll bet they had a good laugh over this :)

No amount of Apple-hate from the usual suspects at the MacRumors forum will be able to make this anything short of hilarious. The more people rant and rave about it, the funnier it gets! Thanks MacRumors staff!! :D:p:)

Why does everyone look like they have a mustache?

Reminds me of when Microsoft did something similar using Xbox avatars.
