Not such a big deal if the profits
So what's to prevent a drone from flying through the campus after it's up and running? I would think Apple would want to prevent this from a corporate espionage perspective. Apple designed anti drone drones?

Signal jammers.

The only problem with this campus, as far as I can tell, is that they've already outgrown this campus. There are still dozens of offices filled to capacity in Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Santa Clara, San Jose, and all over Silicon Valley, and more new buildings being constructed all over the place. The Apple Park won't even hold, probably, half of all the Apple employees in the area. I think it'll still be pretty full in 10 years.
Put it this way, if Apple is in a spot where in 10 years this campus is sitting at anything less than capacity, we've got bigger problems because the world economy tanked.

Apple is already much bigger than you realize. They never intended to build a single giant campus that would hold the 40 to 50K non-retail employees. They have way more employees in just the Silicon Valley than can fit in Apple Park. That's why they are keeping their other campuses, such as their current HQ's and why Apple Park is ja relatively small fraction of the total office space they need.

Why there are staircase from bottom to the main building? Is there a basement under the main building?

If you had paid attention to early MacRumors article and photos, you would know about the THREE levels of parking garage below ground.

Ouch! Why a staircase instead of a flush edge?
Can't they design it such a way that they can take elevator to the main building?

I remember when I first heard about this I was like: Woah that will complete like in the far future... who is going to wait that long

I've heard from a good source that the foundation wasn't up to earthquake code and the city inspectors are making them take it all down and fix it.

Lemme guess, you're 40lbs overweight and are dripping ice cream on your shirt as you read this ;)

The white "sunshade roofs" that circle the building above each level are also reflective floors to the level above. All the windows facing east & west will get blinded by the sun reflection during parts of the day. They'll be like mirrors.

Hello Venetian blinds. Goodbye glossy iMac screens.

Nope. That's why they are angled downward on top.

So how does someone get from one side of the building to the other without it taking forever?

Much faster than before when offices were in different buildings spread all over the city.

I have to agree. Apple Orchard just has the depth to it to make it sound a more justified tone of a brand new building by Apple. The whole "Park" Theme is so off-putting and generic. It's one of the most widely used general classifications for venues, but for a new campus, I'm not liking Park, even though it's just a name. Building looks nice though.

For a company with names like iPhone, and Apple Watch, and Apple TV, and Apple Pay... they clearly use generic and simple words on purpose, and it's kind of their thing.

Those products have nothing to do with naming a new building and utilizing the word "Park." Its just generic sounding and widely used. The iPhone or iPad is a specific name for a specific product. Apple Park seems more generalized than it does personalized. I'm not following your point for a "Simple word on purpose."
