The white "sunshade roofs" that circle the building above each level are also reflective floors to the level above. All the windows facing east & west will get blinded by the sun reflection during parts of the day. They'll be like mirrors.

Hello Venetian blinds. Goodbye glossy iMac screens.

Assuming the windows aren't polarized or tinted. Guess we will find out

Did this Drone come via Time Machine?

As far as I know it's not April yet in Washington State. :D :D
And did they use that same Time Machine to move Cupertino to Washington State?
So what's to prevent a drone from flying through the campus after it's up and running? I would think Apple would want to prevent this from a corporate espionage perspective. Apple designed anti drone drones?
iKiller drones..... or killer iDrones?

Do you not understand how forced it sounds? "Oh yes, we simply MUST make Apple and Apple-related references throughout the company, just so people really understand that we're called Apple"

So should they call the R&D building "the sapling nursery", and their fraud prevention team "the anti-scrumping squad"?

Subtle...
Yeah so? It's a bit whimsical, kinda like how Disney used the term "Imagineers".[/QUOTE]

Reality update: Apple ain't Disney.

So how does someone get from one side of the building to the other without it taking forever?

/writes script that replaces 'Apple Park' with 'The Orchard'

cuz better name.:)

I have to agree. Apple Orchard just has the depth to it to make it sound a more justified tone of a brand new building by Apple. The whole "Park" Theme is so off-putting and generic. It's one of the most widely used general classifications for venues, but for a new campus, I'm not liking Park, even though it's just a name. Building looks nice though.

Why there are staircase from bottom to the main building? Is there a basement under the main building?

It's not exactly without precedence. Macintosh is a type of apple. The Newton was named after Issac Newton who, as the story goes, had an apple drop on his head, which gave him the inspiration for his work with gravity.

I'm guessing much of the building will be off limits to the general public. A shame in the sense that I'm guessing folks wouldn't mind paying for tours.

Yep, that's true.

Sometimes I wonder why I type what I do - I'm a bit full of myself sometimes, sorry! I get carried away in the heat of the moment - I'm only human, but need to shush sometimes :)

Such a massive waste of money. With the way that Apple's sales continue to plummet and with their innovation long dead, this building won't be able to be sustained in 10+ years.
What did the great Randy Moss once say, "straight cash, homie."

Apple's got money to burn!

That's what I was wondering. I thought that was another car tunnel, but now it can't be with those staircases there. I wonder where that tunnel leads? Is it for workers or visitors? Is it a gigantic handicap entrance to an elevator? Why are the staircases inset instead of being flush with the edges? I'm curious.

Does anyone know how they plan to get equipment into the middle after it's completed? Is there a way to go THRU the building with a truck or do they have to go under and come up from the parking garage somehow?

I really hope the solution isn't air lifting the equipment over the building to get something like a wood chipper into there.

Better spend the cash on research and engineering. Otherwise, this will be the last piece of legacy from Steve Jobs. No point having an office complex if you bankrupt.
The only problem with this campus, as far as I can tell, is that they've already outgrown this campus. There are still dozens of offices filled to capacity in Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Santa Clara, San Jose, and all over Silicon Valley, and more new buildings being constructed all over the place. The Apple Park won't even hold, probably, half of all the Apple employees in the area. I think it'll still be pretty full in 10 years.
Put it this way, if Apple is in a spot where in 10 years this campus is sitting at anything less than capacity, we've got bigger problems because the world economy tanked.
