This new visitor's center isn't actually on the Apple Park site, it's located on the other side of Tanteau Avenue. So while it might be fun to drop in if you found yourself in the neighborhood it seems it would be more to shop than to look.

Roofs made of carbon fiber... Carbon fiber is really nice looking, light, and strong, but it is extremely costly.
The cost of carbon fiber has been steadily dropping and is no longer the exclusive domain of race cars, America's Cup yachts and $10,000 bicycles. Carbon is now found in relatively inexpensive daily use products such as smartphone cases, umbrellas, even hair combs.

In the long run, the roof's carbon fiber construction will be cheaper anyhow due to durability and low maintenance.

They are doing very well. I don't think anyone disputes that. What I find worrying is that in less than ten years, they've begun to show this smug arrogance that suggests they will be at the top forever . History says they won't. Some day someone else will come along. They always do.

Here’s the thing... They’ve ALWAYS shown smug arrogance. This is nothing new. Their prices have always been high and they’ve always been controversial.

The only thing that is different now is that they’ve grown much larger in size and have a large range of products.

They’ve always been secretive, they’ve always been “different” (whether that’s good or bad).

Things change. People change. Companies change.

Apple OVERALL is still an excellent company despite what comments on forums say.

Too bad they don’ t have both a wine tasting and craft brew areas.

Might make the perfect day trip stop.

Why anyone would waste their time visiting there is beyond me. It's like the most obnoxious Apple Store conceivable. I guess people are really bored.

How about fixing recent peoduct issues and launching the new speaker before opening a shop?

Then, of course, there is all of the tax revenue that the city, state, and federal government gleans from this highly successful company.

Uhhh, Tim Cook and all the multinationals pretty much brag about how they move money around offshore to avoid US tax yet they relish the US court system when it comes time to defend their patents...Pay up Cook and company!

It's a successful company's prerogative to do this.... Hasn't changed in the history of ever.
[doublepost=1510955714][/doublepost]I'd like to go visit this.

This is the equivalent of tall majestic skyscrapers in cities like New York, with expansive marble-gilded lobbies in a city where a tiny closet of an apartment costs $2500 a month.

Apple is just a bit more creative with their display of wealth. :)

Why do so many people feel the need to bring up Apple “going broke”? Lol...

They’re close to being the world’s first trillion dollar company, 10 years later still have lines outside their stores for new iPhones and the list goes on.

They’re doing just fine...
[doublepost=1510956575][/doublepost]

Seems like their sales are doing just fine though...

It's the only way some people can feel good about themselves.

But is it any quieter inside, my one hate of the Apple stores open plan is how noisy it can be when busy, worse than some food courts in malls!

I shudder to think how much an Apple Park-specific tote bag costs. Or attempt to understand the people that would spend money on such a thing, along with most of those items. I wonder if Ive designed them?

Why? It’s like buying a pint glass when you go to your favorite brewery. I bought some stuff at the Sam Adams brewery that they don’t sell anywhere else. Why would this be any different?

Unfortunately time (Google) will kill iOS, just like Windows killed the Mac. Hey Bill Gates sent a letter to Sculley, which Jobs never saw, but we all know how arrogant Jobs was and wouldn't have listened either.
Won't make a difference to you 'cause it won't be in your lifetime.

So, the reason that Apple built this building is because they are a growing company and were spread out in multiple buidings across the city which is very inefficient. They also had to rent out space each year to show their new products. Now they have a campus that can hold more people (though they still will have some satellite locations), and can use their own theater each year.

Could they have built it cheaper? Sure. They could build their stores plain too, instead of having glass cubes and iconic designs. But that is not the image of the company. It's not pretentious as some others said, but rather a sense of style. It's kind of funny to hear people whine about that style when they appreciate it in phones. If Apple was making some cheap plastic boxy thick phone you guys would be screaming.

It makes sense for a company that puts so much energy into design of their phones do the same for their own office space. In fact, it's quite logical.

I was there today. The store feels like any other store but with exclusive t shirts and other items.
Shirts were $40, tote bags $25, hats I didn’t see the price. They also had some memory cards and post cards.

The observation deck was ok but you can’t really see the spaceship. It’s covered by trees mostly.

The AR iPads were cool though because you can see some neat features of the entire campus as you walk around and overlay the model.
