Such an issue should never have occurred and should have been fixed as soon as possible. Disappointing to hear that it took a couple of months to fix it.

What issue? It has never ever ever ever caused a problem for anyone. What you are suggesting is the same as fixing a flat tyre before it is flat.
 
I couldn’t stand being so paranoid as to worry about people sitting at my front door, hacking my wifi just to get a password for my light switches.

Apple introduced Rapid Security Response two years ago, and if i remember correctly, they only used it for like once. All other vulnerabilities were pending until the next system updates.
