Twitter was one of the worst social networks even before Musk. Before COVID. Before it all. Every community is so violently disconnected from the real world and I read the most insane takes, both progressive and neonazi, that make even places like 4chan seem same.

I feel like I need one of those “I hated Bush before it was cool” bumper stickers, but for Twitter. I haven’t had an account since 2018, and it’s been so great.

I'm glad companies like Apple and IBM are walking away from ex-Twitter. It's become a cesspool of "free speech" (read: out-and-out lies spread by propaganda outlets).
Twitter would end up as a propaganda feed for intolerance, just as I said it would when Elon took over.

Crazy how many times we have to prove to ourselves that absolute free speech doesn't work. It only leads to doxxing, calls to violence, eugenics, anti-semitism, all kinds of tolerance of blatant intolerance.

On the flip-side, I'm very happy that Elon is too emotionally reactive to understand how he's actually perceived.

But I guess all of this nonsense is to be expected when you give someone so clearly on the spectrum free rein with next to no consequences.

Pause nothing. Every responsible company should stop ads permanently and delete their accounts. We should all leave it behind and just let it die. It was a great thing, but it’s ruined by the stupidity of the man who brought it.
Well, I agree with the concept I think it’s unlikely to happen. Musk is just too wealthy. If he wanted to; Elon could run twitter, currently referred to as X, as a pure vanity product with no income

I think he is seeing the consequences; the issue is that he will play the victim.

Apple is pausing all of its advertising on social network X, formerly known as Twitter, reports Axios. The decision comes following antisemitic remarks that Musk made on Wednesday.

With Musk's latest comments, and evidence that X is showing Apple ads alongside pro-Hitler content, it is unclear if Apple will be convinced to resume advertising again sometime in the future.
There's a reason why Musk changed the name of the company from Twitter to X

Let me understand this.
A guy says "Jewish communities are pushing dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want people to stop using against them"
So parsing this....some Jewish people make anti-white intellectual aguments. This is true from a certain perspective as "anti-white" arguments have become very in-vogue, but claiming "communities" is clearly painting with too broad a brush.

He then continues saying basically...he doesn't care about helping Jewish people when "their" opinion about the relative merits of immigration lead to other countries having large proportion of people who are not supportive of Jewish people.

Elon Musk then tweets "You have said the actual truth". What part? There are like 10 propositions tied into that mess.

This is the big earth shattering anti-semitism? That many Jewish intellectuals do support ideas that are easily understood as anti white and the original author doesn't care that the outcomes may be hard for them?

Thats a bunch of jumbled thoughts to say "are the truth" and it's generally silly to ascribe to a whole group the actions of individual members but this is weak sauce for "antisemitic" tweet. Under this way of thinking everyone who makes a comment about "whiteness" or "white privilege" is anti-white. The internet is just a dumb place.

But Musk should stay off twitter. It's good to promote free speech but he just makes dumb tweets which hurt the company.

Quite a shock, if you’ve spent the last year living under a rock.
Starship is going to try again tonight. Maybe Musk should be onboard when it takes off? In other news famous American hero Charles Lindberg was an admirer of that failed Austrian painter wannabe and thought fascism was peachy keen (at first).

Meanwhile Apple meets with China’s dictator, Xi, and has no issue doing business with a country that places little value on human rights and has an enormous concentration camp filled with Uyghurs.

These mega corporations pandering and faux outrage is beyond parody at this point.
If Apple should stay out of every country that violates human rights, they should pull back from a lot of markets. Including the US.

Look, all western companies have pulled back from Russia. Did it stop the war? No.

Funny how the only topic off limits enough to warrant this sort of response is questioning Jewish power, and how consistently people are blackballed for doing so. Must just be a coincidence.

Maybe Musk should have stuck to a more advertiser-friendly target for his comments, like White people. Advertisers and big tech companies seem to be fine with that.

EDIT: Also funny to note that Apple is oh-so-principled, but not principled enough to remove X from the App Store and forgo their cut of X's subscription payments.

Does TwitterX have a large enough hardcore followers willingly sacrifice themselves to keep it afloat? Apple has such a crowd in the size of millions. If TwitterX doesn’t have, then I don’t know how long it can last with big money leaving the platform. Ultimately however, all of this is not my problem.
Tim really should've done this a year ago instead of making nice with Musk, but good. Apple has a million other ways to advertise, they don't need Twitter.
And they have millions of hardcore followers, allowing Apple to live indefinitely and guaranteed to make some profit regardless of economic situations. Twitter doesn’t have this luxury.
