Home Depot works fine for most as long as you aren't using a MasterCard.

Best thing to do is wait for the EMV conversion which HD was poised to do. I'm sure Contactless will work more properly with EMV on.

Sorry to bring a dead thread back to life, but all 4 of the Home Depot locations around the west valley area of Los Angeles , ca have disabled apple pay and other nfc payments.

I shop there a lot being a plumbing contractor and I have been using apple pay at Home Depot since the launch of apple pay. But it's been a good 5 days that Home Depot has disabled all types of nfc payments in the 4 stores in the van nuys, woodland hills and canoga park area.

I'm going to boycot then till they fix this.

I currently work for Home Depot and I can confirm that the company has decided to disable ALL wireless payment methods at this time.

This includes both Google Wallet and Apple Pay. We were told by upper management that the company is going to get upgraded pinpads at some point in the near future. Once this happens, they may decide to re-enable wireless payments, but that isn't for sure yet.

That is all the information we have been given thus far.

Thanks for the info. And I call bull on the updated keypad part. Their keypads aren't very old, nor do they need updating since they already support nfc. I'm going to start sending strongly worded emails to them.

Same here. Updated pin pads my butt! They already are using the updated ones. Why remove a working feature? And why leave NFC antenna one with instructions that say to "tap card" along with the picture of the NFC logo? Load of crap.

Yup!!!!

Waiting for Lowes to enable NFC.

But I have to wonder how the new chipped credit cards are effecting some of these POS systems? Maybe new hardware is required for Home Depot???

Loses won't, MCX partner. Also, the hardware they are using is brand new (less than a year old) and is the latest and greatest from Ingenico.

So can someone please let me know what "unofficial" apple pay providers/shops are out there. Is it any with the nfc readers that have MasterCard Pay pass and the American Express equivalent?

Our store has fairly new terminals and has been accepting Apple Pay since it was rolled out. Find it hard to believe they would disable AP when it works and the store already has new terminals.

It all has to do with Chip card support. Once that is fully rolled out you'll be able to use your Apple Pay again. You can not forget that Apple Pay also uses EMV when it's available.

Weird. The other day it seemed like it was still turned on at HD ("swipe, insert or tap" on the screen). IIRC it did have issues like rejecting MasterCard tap while allowing Visa and AmEx so it was probably a reasonable idea to turn all of them off to avoid confusion.

It still shows the tap option when checking out. But gives an error saying contactless payments not allowed and declined the transaction.

Declined my Chase Sapphire Visa today at Home Depot from my Apple watch.

Took it as a chip card though so it must have been a recently installed reader. Would not accept a swipe. Had to insert it. Then didn't even have to sign for a $300 purchase.

What did it say when you tried to swipe the Chip card? Are they beginning to require inserts for chip cards like other stores are beginning to now? I wonder what happens with my chipped debit.

That's good that you had to insert it, I'd heard some Home Depots at least were non-enforcing (taking chip cards without enforcing them is almost useless from a fraud prevention perspective, as the criminals will just continue to clone the magnetic stripe and use it)
