Cite your source that says Apple "owns a substantial amount of global bandwidth." I'm fascinated to find out from where you pull that assertion.

Except any server connection issues are almost CERTAINLY on Green Dot and not Apple since they are responsible for provisioning the cards as they are, in fact, a bank. And since these transactions are likely not running on Amazon that's just the way it is, and the sun will still rise tomorrow.

As far as the comment on Apple "opening the store" this can only lead me to believe you're upset you didn't get through on iPhone X launch day and someone else got what you think was "your" device.

Apple owns a substantial about of server horsepower. Or did you miss all the stories about the massive data centers they’ve been building.

The bandwidth on a per-user basis for activating has got to be tiny, certainly compared to software updates, which they have repeatedly shown far better ability to serve.

As for the iPhone X, you would have to concede that it’s a negative customer experience to not open the store until ten minutes late and then immediately say, “sorry, we’re sold out.”

Why the hostility? You claimed that this costs money with no differentiation between credit and debit until much later when it was pointed out to you. You either were misinformed or weren't telling the truth, but either way you were wrong. So no, you don't have to repeat yourself because you have yet to admit you simply didn't state the facts for whatever reason. No need to try to insult people who are trying to correct your error. If you don't want to use the service, then don't, but don't lie about how it works either.

And coming in at the 11th hour and claiming Apple may someday start charging a fee is nonsense and completely speculative.
Whatever, you’re clearly far more passionate about this subject than I am. And I haven’t come in on the 11th hour on this. I’ve posted a few times about it in the last few months. And I think banks will be the first to do it before Apple. Businesses aren’t a charity.

I didn’t state facts? I stated an opinion and a fact that turned out to be true but not in all situations. It still doesn’t have any impact on my opinion that I’m amazed that people are so passionate about giving away money (which was both meant to be in fees and in handing over money to people). Call it a lifestyle where you don’t live indebted to people I suppose.

In any case, enjoy Apple Pay. Hope it is what you want it to be.

And for the record, calling me a liar is far more hostile than anything you accuse me of doing. Especially as I didn’t LIE about there being fees. It just turns out it’s fees in some situations. And speculation about future fees isn’t lying. So maybe stop making grand assumptions yourself. ;)

FINALLY got it enabled on the iPad but the toggle is still not present on my phone.

Finally got it going in the Dallas area a little before 2 PM CST (8 PM UTC).

can you have multiple bank accounts linked to Apple Pay Cash?

edit: Well I got it up and running but it seems I can only link one bank account to transfer cash.

The toggle switch has disappeared from my 6S. This morning it errored out when trying to activate. But it's gone as of now.
Haven't rebooted phone but I may just wait to see if it returns...

Apple Pay Cash toggle switch now gone on my iPhone X. Toggle switch still present on my work iPhone 6S +

It’s the middle-men. Sending money via Apple Pay incurs costs on the person sending the money just like a pre-paid card. That’s throwing away money for convenience. And if I owe someone money, why would I give them a pre-paid card? I would tell them I’d pay them tomorrow and get the cash for them tomorrow. If someone I would borrow from wouldn’t trust me at my word I wouldn’t borrow from them.

There’s only a charge if you use a credit card. I don’t lend people money from my credit card but my debit card I do all the time. I use both Venmo and Square Cash and will add apple pay cash to the list.

Nobody is going to charge you for this service.. I'm not sure why you are making up things. Apple gets a 0.15% cut of every Apple Pay purchase, including (and most likely significantly higher, especially if it's being processed as a credit card) for purchases made with the Apple Pay Cash card. Discover Debit is the one providing the virtual cards to Apple (at least here in FL) and they are making a cut from AP Cash purchases as well. These are charged to the merchants who accept Apple Pay.

The debit card you're using to fund Apple Pay cash is collecting a small fee from Apple/Discover to add to your balance. Every company involved is already making money from this system. They are not going to charge the consumer anything, that would be stupid. Venmo and other companies have been doing the same thing for years without charging fees to the consumer. Don't spread misinformation.
