It's possible that the merchant's payment acquirer simply has never added the Apple Pay token bank id ranges to their valid account number database.
I have seen videos of people paying with Apple Pay in those exact same store from around 2 years ago, so it is intentional.

Also i noticed if terminal has VERIFONE logo on the display it will work with Apple Pay all the time anywhere. In Denmark there is only Verifone and NETS, one works and the other one doesn't work, but in one video on youtube i have seen it work also on Nets terminal.

- I have paid with Apple Pay in Denmark on NETS terminals, which is the more widespread kind of the two by far. Works fine.

When and where exactly? Any and all Netto, Bilka or Fotex doesn't work. I have emails from their customer service to prove this.

- It was a while ago (summer of last year), so it's quite possible things have changed since then. Netto, føtex, Kvickly, and Q8.

They didn't know it worked back then, but it did.

Well it no longer works. As a matter of fact i tried many other places where people on tripadvisor said it worked and it longer works there e.g Rema1000. Very pathetic and very sad.

It's possible that the merchant's payment acquirer simply has never added the Apple Pay token bank id number (BIN) ranges to their valid account number database.

(That's the starting digits on your card, which indicate what kind and bank, e,g. 4460 for a Chase Visa debit.)
With EMV contact and contactless, the BIN is irrelevant for the most part. The application ID (AID) is used instead, which is the same for every Visa, MasterCard, Amex etc.

Two different purposes.

The AID is used to determine the card scheme specific payment application to run, as you said.

However, I'm talking about validating the token card number itself, which depends on the BIN ranges that the terminal and/or acquirer has in their valid number table. This is also critical for dynamic currency conversion.

I read all comment and I came to conclusion that almost whole western europe is far behind everything really. I don't know if You've been to Poland but in thiis State you can pay contactless everywhere. There is preety big choose payments methods like BLIK or HCE. Mobile payments are highly developed. And guys. Are you stupid? In most banks you can change a limit of contactless payment method up to 100 euro. And yes, Poland is far ahead compare to Sweden, Dennmark or Finnland in terms of payments. Nobody uses pin codes! And nobody noticed that

I've been to Poland — contactless is just as evolved in Ireland and Spain anyway (the two countries I know well).

And no, we're not stupid. Just because the limit can be altered in your country doesn't mean it can be elsewhere. In Ireland the €30 limit is set in legislation for contactless card transactions. This cannot be altered or removed. There is no limit for contactless mobile payments like Apple Pay.

In Poland you can take out money from cash machine without debit card. Can you do the same thing in Ireland or Spain? No you can't. Can you pay in shop without a card or Apple Pay or Android pay?? No? In Poland you can. Just phone is needed. Read more about blik https://ecommercenews.eu/polish-banks-launch-mobile-payments-solution-blik/#respond

Cash withdrawals are still missing, but with MobilePay you can do shopping and peer-to-peer payments in Finland. For peer-to-peer payments there’s also a newer Siirto that’s supported by multiple banks,

Eh... in Spain, yes. Yes you can. Spain has had contactless ATMs since 2011, actually. http://www.nfctimes.com/news/spanish-bank-installs-first-contactless-atms

And I'm talking about contactless specifically. Not other hairbrained ideas like Blik.

Blik is an absolute total waste of time, by the looks of it. You have to make a request, then type a code displayed on your phone into the payment terminal, and then confirm the transaction on your phone? I'm glad we don't have that in Ireland or Spain. So much friction at the point of sale! What happens if the shop doesn't have good coverage? A huge step backwards.

Yeah that "Blik" thing will never make it in backwards the Netherlands. Guess we just don't have a modern society like Poland (but at least there's no PIS either, so there's that). There's contactless payment though, has been there for years.

We have been able to do everything you mention for ages - MobilePay has been peer to peer for years now and been in shops several years as well. I can go shopping with my phone. Doesn’t change the fact that Apple Pay seems to be a more seamless experience because of the close ties to the hardware - both iPhone and Apple Watch. And mainly because of the Watch I would love it here

Blik is sort of lifebuoy. And is way safer than contactless payments. But seems like you don't wanna talk about upsides

Yes I know. But I haven't had any chance to pay without pin lately when I was in The Netherlands.

Ps: if you want to talk about politics just DM
