I bank with Lloyds and save with the Halifax. Haven't seen an email from Lloyds as yet. Has any Lloyds customers received this email?
I use both Bank of Scotland and Halifax, and I had a big "Apple Pay coming soon" window when I log into my online banking.

I know for a fact that BoS and Halifax both sharing the same IT system. Not sure about Lloyds though.

Lloyds have been sending out an email about their new online banking website. When you look at the demo and the new style website, the apple pay section was updated. It wasn't just an email about apple pay I don't think

Visited the Lloyds' website on my iPhone and saw this.

Morrisons have ApplePay branding around all their card readers in my local Morrisons, was trying to find out if this meant they'd got rid of the limit, but the cashier didn't know, and I didn't want to pull down the manager to ask out of interest, as I can't actually use it yet.

Yep, you're right.

If a merchant displays the Apple Pay logo, they have up to date contactless terminals and do not have the usual £20 (soon to be £30 limit).

All of the merchants listed on the Apple Pay website (http://www.apple.com/uk/apple-pay/where-to-use-apple-pay/) do not have the limit.

So for example, you can go into your local Apple Store and buy an £999 MacBook with Apple Pay.

Lloyds, Halifax and Bank Of Scotland are all under Lloyds banking group. I would expect them all to go live at the same time. For those people who haven't received the email. That's probably because you opted out to receive marketing emails.

what's the point of using Apple Pay if you are limited to £20? The amount is very little of practical use for larger purchases. Groceries alone for a weeks worth costs more than that. There's no such limit here.
Some retailers have already lifted the limit. For example, Nandos, TfL and Pret all offer unlimited. Waitrose doesn't yet somewhat annoyingly, but in future it's just a software upgrade away. And contactless limit is becoming £30 from next month.

This is incorrect,

Only Apple, Bill's and Pret currently have the "High Value" contactless system as far as I am aware, so not all the companies listed have the new system. Boots will upgrade in November to the new High Value system, Marks and Spencer's food also is not accepting above £20

Someone posted paying a ~£200 bill at a Honda Motorcycle Dealership with Apple Pay.

For more than the £20 limit I think it will be a bit of luck at the moment.

Unfortunately it's a hardware upgrade to newer contactless terminals not a software thing so expect a very very slow rollout until most of the UK is equip to use Apple or Android pay with an unlimited sale amount (we're talking at least a decade)

it can't be a hardware issue if the limit is being raised to £30 next month-does everyone get a new machine next month then?

The limit can be set on current terminals but for unlimited amounts, newer terminals are needed. The £30 limit has been planned for a while now.

No, the limit is for the old contactless standard in the UK. You don't have an option to change it what you want, its a £30 limit for every old contactless terminal in the UK.

There's a whitepaper on Apple's website about the new terminal standard companies need to upgrade to in order to enable unlimited purchase prices. The £30 limit will still remain on all these terminals for every standard contactless card, but it enables another layer of security that interfaces with devices such as Apple Pay and Android Pay recognising its secured with a pin or fingerprint and thus enables the same transactional limit as standard chip and pin.

The poster above is correct.

Its a simple matter of supporting the latest standard. Most terminals at the moment use Visa Paywave 2.0, MasterCard PayPass 2.1 and American Express ExpressPay 2.0.5. Versions 3.0 and above support on the device verification that ApplePay uses. In theory if your terminal is so old to not to support the latest version (which is very unlikely, only the first generation of devices from 2007 or 2008) you can simply enable signature verification on the contactless terminal and staff can be trained not to ask for a signature when devices like the iPhone are used.
