The one time i've tried using it - it did not work. That was at a Trader Joes. I took out my phone and it worked right away.

Only other place that I would regularly use Apple Pay (with my phone) is at Whole foods and it works fine.

Wish that places like Target, and gas stations (at the pump) would start to use it.

In my experience, it's the readers that are at fault, or how they are programmed/configured. It's not the watch or the phone.

Certain stores like Whole Foods, Walgreens, and Trader Joes have good, new-looking terminals that are set up right, and I never have a problem with Apple Pay. That tells me the technology works fine.

I think the places with problems have not put enough focus on making this work well, or they are using older-generation terminals with weaker receivers. There is also a lot of back-end configuration that needs to be done right, and I'm guessing in many cases it hasn't.

I had a couple failed attempts with Apple Pay. I tried both my watch and phone. I'm fairly certain that the store's reader was faulty. It seemed like it was so rarely used that the cashiers didn't know what to do (and they probably didn't care since most people use other means of payment).

Had a recent experience regarding paying at a Grocery Supermarket in the Uk.

Pulled out iPhone to pay and the Cashier somehow managed to decline the  pay. Even though the amount showed on the phone screen but the name of the business was blank.

They gave me a till slip with the void on and it didn't come out of my Bank Account.

To clarify  didn't pay due to human error of the till operative.

My experience has been usually when Apple Pay doesn't work its an issue with the terminal and not really Apple Pay. Even at Best Buy there is one particular register that for whatever reason it won't work. It will say declined and then you are forced to insert the card. Yet other registers it works perfectly.. I've used it at several local businesses and it works like a charm. I really like doing it with my Apple Watch...

I've had a few occasions where Apple Pay didn't work where it was supposed to. It's also inconvenient to have to sign for some Apple Pay purchases if they're over a certain limit. But my biggest gripe is that it's still not accepted at most places. Chevron was supposed to roll it out at gas pumps here in the U.S., but that hasn't happened, at least in my area. I use my credit card most often at restaurants, where the server has to bring a device to the table for contactless payments to work, and I don't know if anyone here is doing that, either.
