So Amex is covered. Great 🙂 acceptance of Amex is rising anyway. They want to open the German market.
As Amex is a stand alone card, it does not matter, at what bank your primary account is. Once in a month, Amex charges its bill. Nothing more.
I read an article before (in one of the large papers - either Welt / FAZ / SZ / ...) and I can't find it anymore! What is going on in good old Cash-Germany? The announcement was only 2 days ago.
And I guess we have some more month to wait.
So will this be the biggest Apple Pay launch in history?? 😀
I don´t get it. Apple could easily have startet with half of the confirmed banks 2 years ago!
Just for Info:I read an article before (in one of the large papers - either Welt / FAZ / SZ / ...) and I can't find it anymore!
Yet in it they stated that both Commerzbank and Comdirect want to be there right from the start (which the Handelsblatt reported about on day one). Yet, as they haven't finalised the deal with Apple they aren't allowed to use this standard "later this year" phrase and confirm their participation. Can only be a matter of days or couple of weeks maximum. So I think it's a safe bet to say they'll be launch partners as well.
Just for Info:
Your link https://www.apple.com/de/apple-pay/
On forum page 1 is not correct and gives an error
EDIT: Just out of interest, has anyone tried adding any cards of those banks names so far? Is anyone going to try it every once in a while and let us know if anything changes regarding the setup in Wallet?
I have written a small script which checks that file via cronjob and sends me a message when a new region is added... Running each 30 minutes...To activate Apple Pay in Germany, Apple will have to change this file to include "DE": https://smp-device-content.apple.com/static/region/v2/config.json
Also another thing I haven't read about: Which retail and online partners is Apple working with? I could imagine that Aldi / Rewe / Lidl / Kaufland are the usual suspects, possibly MediaMarkt. A few official launch partners could also include Deutsche Bahn, FlixBus and Zalando (they already support Apple Pay if it's set up) and then airlines like Lufthansa/Eurowings, EasyJet (already supported). But that's all a guess. Will be interesting to see. Banks are not the whole story when it comes down to a launch.
Don't know which they want to put on start page, but these are stores I used so far:
Aldi, Lidl, Rewe, Edeka, Tegut, Toom, Shell, Total, Burger King, MCDonalds, Ditsch, Selecta Automaten, Rossmann, DM, Lokaler Asiate, Baumarkt, Lokales Kaufhaus, Ikea
Yes, they probably gonna list 'Lokaler Asiate' on their page
