Seeing as Waitrose accept >£30 for Apple Pay hopefully that means John Lewis have followed suit.

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned before but Bet365 also offer Apple Pay within their app.

People have mentioned before about having cards declined with LHBoS; never noticed this before on Apple’s website.

I think this is completely down to the merchants. I’ve had transactions, well over £30, go through using Apple Pay, but have also got declined just for being £0.50 above the limit.
 
I visited Sainsbury's tonight at Butterly in Derbyshire and noticed they've updated their SACAT software; it shows the Apple Pay logo on the screen now (but interestingly not Google/Samsung Pay).

I don't know if anyone who reads this thread lives on the Isle of Wight but from what I can gather the new trial they've been conducting also allows Nectar card holders to add it to the Wallet app?

I signed up yesterday. Let’s see how this ride goes. Predominantly my use will be for international travel.
 
Apple Pay / contactless is accepted almost everywhere now in the UK that we now need a new small list of places which don’t support it! I’ll start with two notable places:

- topman/topshop
- H&M
- Lloyd’s pharmacy?
 
Does anyone know if (at least with HSBC) you need to enter your PIN number when a) staying under the £30 contactless limit and b) using an account for the first time? I've got a new card and it's going to take them 8 working days to send me my new PIN number. So I'm hoping I can get some shopping done before it FINALLY arrives.

I never had to enter a pin with my HSBC cards, neither under nor over £30 when using Apple Pay. However I am not sure if you have to activate the card first, which could require using the pin at a cashpoint.

I tried it today at my local M&S Food Hall and didn’t need to enter my PIN (under £30). I activated the card beforehand via the online banking. Let’s hope the PIN doesn’t take too long to arrive...
Once I go over that £30 limit I always need to enter the PIN on the terminal with some shops (ie. Tesco), correct? Or is that something that’s decided by the banks? Sorry, but haven’t had my cards set up for Apple Pay before.
On a side note: When using Apple Pay in Germany I never need to enter a PIN when over 25€ (standard contactless card limit). Touch ID as authentication seems to be sufficient for their setup (even if it isn’t officially supported there yet).

Interesting, i never tried Apple Pay for over 25€ in Germany thanks for that tip. I think if you pay with Apple Pay in Tesco you just won't be able to use it for over £30. In that case you just have to ask the person at the checkout to stop at £30 and then run the rest in separate transactions. Doing that will also slightly slow down the checkout speed, which might make Tesco upgrade their terminals. Apart from Tesco and Asda most major supermarkets accept Apple Pay for over £30 though.

Granted I normally don’t buy over £30 worth of food at Tesco because I order online but nowadays I don’t think £30 limit for contactless is enforced in most of the places. I’ve paid well over £30 using Apple Pay a lot of times.
 
I was in Dunelm yesterday. Their card readers looked the same as others I'd used before with contactless so I know they would support it. But there was a sticker along the top of it saying "I'm not contactless"

Most people who shop at Tesco don’t have an iPhone, go figure.

Cineworld. They at least have the excuse of not having contactless capable terminals.
